    Description of work:
Your task will be to help the surrounding communities with mowing fields and collecting hay. Sometimes, the fields are on a slope and are difficult to reach with machines. In nearby orchards, you'll be repairing fences and protecting trees from being gnawed away by sheep. You will also take care of rough grazing land, in order to conserve the habitats of endangered plants and animals.
Another task for you will be to pull out small tree saplings from the meadow in order to prevent them spreading in this particular habitat – therefore learning a lot about conservation in the process.
The working tasks are led by a specialist, who can tell you a lot about the local nature and the significance of your work. The Landscape Conservation Association would like to give you some information about relationships within nature so that you can better understand the meaning and implications of your work.

    Description of work:
Together with young people from other countries, you will explore the theme of ‘being connected’ in a theatre workshop. Under the guidance of a theatre educator, you will develop a play based on the group's own creative ideas, which will be performed in front of an audience at the end of the project.
Connection exists in many different situations and constellations. Find out how connection arises. When do you feel connected to something – to a person, a task, the universe or yourself? And what happens when this connection is broken? You will develop the scenes of your play through role-playing, character work, interaction and improvisation. Feel free to bring a musical instrument with you – a piano is available on site.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
    Landesforsten Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – Forstamt Schlemmin
(State Forestry of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania – Foresty office Schlemmin)
The forestry offices of Landesforsten Mecklenburg-Vorpommern perform the tasks of a unified forestry administration: in addition to their forestry work in the state-owned forest and their service offers, this also includes their work as a lower forestry authority - advising and promoting private forest ownership. They also inform all forest visitors about the importance of the forest and the tasks of forestry.

The ijgd has been organising volunteer service programmes since 1949. We are an independent, non-profit association for international youth work, a recognised independent youth welfare organisation, and one of the largest and oldest workcamp organisations in Germany. Each year, we assist around 4,000 young people into volunteer work in Germany and abroad. We give them the opportunity to be creative, act in solidarity, take responsibility for themselves, and discover their own true potential and strengths.

    Description of work:
The "Alte Nebel" between Lüssow and Bützow was the original course of the "Nebel" river. The lowlands along the river have been used intensively for decades, mainly as grassland and arable land, creating rather poor conditions for the local ecosystem.
The task of the State Forestry Agency was to create a development corridor with site-typical trees and shrubs along the "Alte Nebel" in order to accelerate the slow, natural forest development and to greatly reduce the input of plant protection products and fertilisers.
To this end, more than 200,000 trees such as willows, red alders, pedunculate oaks, fluttering elms, downy birches and a wide variety of forest edge shrubs have been planted along around 14 km of the river since 2018.
However, since the beaver has also found a new home along the "Alte Nebel", a large number of trees must now be protected from browsing by the beaver.
From 2023 to 2025, each workcamp group protected over 600 trees using wire trousers.
You are now continuing this work and will also protect 600 to 700 trees on an area of approx. 4 hectares. The wire trousers are made from wildlife fencing, which is cut to a length of 2.2 metres, knotted together and erected. In addition, they are fixed to the ground with two stakes made from recycled plastic, so that the beavers are no longer able to damage the trees.
You will be accompanied by the staff of the local forestry office.
In addition to the practical work, the foresters will teach you a lot about nature and environmental protection in general and about the forest and its protection in particular. You will learn a lot about the local flora and fauna, their relevance for the ecosystem and the various measures for their protection.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
In the project "Gutshof Neuendorf im Sande", the history of the site is documented and made accessible to the public. In the 1930s, the estate was a hachshara site, an agricultural training estate where the increasingly persecuted Jews were to be enabled to leave Nazi Germany through agricultural training. From 1941, the estate became a forced labour camp, and in April 1943 the last Jewish residents were deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp, where many were killed. In GDR times, the farm was a state-owned property. The project offers workshops on history and political topics, organises concerts, readings, film evenings and theatre performances and wants to become a meeting place for the region. We see the project as a place where a shared vision of a solidary and democratic society without racist exclusion can be developed. For more info, please visit: https://www.zusane.org/ and https://geschichte-hat-zukunft.org/

    Description of work:
Your support is needed to help in the build up of the actual highlight: From July 17 to July 19 there will be an international festival. We will offer several workshops on the topics of promoting democracy, combating anti-Semitism and racism as well as a lot of live music and a variety of artistic performances. The festival will address current issues in the region relating to anti-democratic structures, as well as the current situation in Israel and Gaza. It is all about exchange and networking for a just and democratic society. Secondly, we need your help in some maintenance stuff – renovating, cleaning, plant cutting or else. It is light work.

Study part: The study part is about the history of the estate, a history of Jewish self-organisation under the pressure of National Socialist persecution. How can culture of remembrance function in rural areas? What is the significance of remembering the past at all for our societies today? What are the challenges? Theoretical aspects of democracy and the possibilities of developing a place for meeting and learning in orphaned rural areas are the focus. If desired, excursions to other sites can also be organised.

The Neuendorf im Sande estate is run by a collective of people from a wide variety of backgrounds who organise cultural, art and educational events or work the estate's land agriculturally. The organisation aims to gather people willing to bring to their children a creative learning environment where they can find the joy in learning and experience the richness of childhood rather than early specialisation or academic hot-housing. Parents and professionals work together in the structures created by the organisation: leisure workshops, nurseries, schools, kindergarten. To do so, the association follows the principles of Steiner-Waldorf pedagogy.

Altogether, those activities gather a total of 155 children. The area offers countless opportunities for hiking, with trails suitable for different levels and interests. The nearby town provides a variety of restaurants, cafés, and sports facilities, making it easy to relax or stay active during your free time. ● 주요내용

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
The Environmentally Aware & Action project is part of a series of camps organised by SEEDS in cooperation with different partners. SEEDS collaborates with the Icelandic Ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, the City of Reykjavík, and several local stakeholders on a project to clean up the Icelandic coastline. Partners include the Blue Army, an organisation dedicated to the cause of coastal cleaning, SORPA, the waste collection & management entity in the capital area, and Whales of Iceland, an exhibit showcasing life-size models of whales and porpoises to educate the public about their lives and the impact of human activity on their existence.

    Description of work:
This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environment protection by joining outdoor cleanup tasks.
These cleanup tasks may be arranged in partnership with the above mentioned organisations or run solely by SEEDS. We also aim to involve the local community, so some of our events may be open to the public. We hope participants will learn how to plan and carry out their own trash cleaning projects back at home. This project is based on similar activities around the world, where outstanding results have been achieved with volunteers. Volunteers can choose one of the two options below, included as hands-on volunteering activity in the camp:
A day trip combining a visit to the Hellisheiði geothermal power plant, a trash collection in the area, and the Hot River Hike, a hike up a valley filled with hot springs where one can bathe.
A day trip to the Reykjanes Peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area.
Please note that all activities are subject to weather conditions and the availability of our partners.
This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors, walking medium to long distances during the cleanups, and during other activities such as sightseeing. Since a part of the project happens outdoors, volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule. Depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the activities as planned.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
This camp is part of SEEDS' ongoing efforts to raise awareness, promote engagement in environmental issues and to support sustainability, organic and permaculture farming, social inclusion, education and hands-on actions in the field. Volunteers will gain insights into local and global challenges through non-formal educational activities such as hands-on work, visits, discussions, and workshops.
SEEDS volunteers have the opportunity to participate in different projects in collaboration with Landvernd (the Icelandic Environmental Organization), the EcoVillage at Sólheimar, the Icelandic Ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, Umhverfisstofnun (the Icelandic Environmental Agency) and Blái Herinn (the Blue Army).
SEEDS volunteers will take on a variety of activities, depending on weather conditions and the needs of our partners including working in the forestry section and vegetable greenhouses in the EcoVillage, as well as participating in a nationwide project to raise awareness of ocean pollution, plastic waste, and engage the group in hands-on cleanup efforts in the area, allowing volunteers to make a direct impact!

    Description of work:
The camp is based at Alviðra, which offers a range of activities to connect people with nature, such as community gardens, wildlife workshops, school programs, and hikes. Volunteers should be prepared to share environmental issues from their home countries and be ready to spend time outdoors. Volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule. Depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the activities as planned.

The place is registered as natural Icelandic heritage; the nature, vegetation and birdlife is rich in variety and quantity. The volunteers can enjoy outdoor activities in a peaceful and beautiful location with a small stream and a pond nearby. Hiking trails with maps about cultural heritage can be found throughout the area, which is a popular attraction among both foreign and local visitors.
The nearest town, Selfoss, only 10 minutes-drive away, with 6500 inhabitants, is a centre of commerce and small industries where you find a geothermal swimming pool, shops, museums, cafés and bars.
