    Description
Most schools in Tanzania have vacation during Christmas season, where kids are expected to join family members for extracurricular activities, educational tours and other studies outside class rooms. However, the experience has indicated that most students do not have any structured activities that are fully involving them for personal and academic development. As a result, bad influences during holidays time have affected the kids significantly since they join different peer groups and have limited supervision of their parents or guardians. This project is aiming to fill in the gap through effectively utilizing the vacation time and to allow students/kids to join structured activities which will contribute to their growth. The project is also aiming to give kids from the less privileged family an opportunity to enjoy the end of years’ festivals as other children.

    Activities
We are expecting to work with 30-60 children from the community, between 5- and 13-year-olds, mostly pre-school and primary school students. Volunteers’ tasks will include:
 Games: indoor and outdoor games that will stimulate learning, team building and activeness. Local games will be introduced as well foreign ones from the volunteers.
 Gardening: ornamental and vegetable planting, composting, garden tour etc.
 Nature activities: bird watching, tree planting, learning about various plants, birds, animals, worms and insects which are found in the area.

Sea wall is a form of coastal defense constructed where the sea, and associated coastal processes, impact directly upon the landforms of the coast. The major reason is to protect areas of human habitation, conservation and leisure activities from the action of tides, waves or tsunamis. This project is focusing not on man-made seawall but the natural seawall that is built naturally by mangrove forests along the sea show.

Mangrove trees that are expected to stretch along Coastal lines are important as animal habitats and natural seawalls. However despite this reality Mangrove forest are among the most threatened habitats in various countries. These trees may be disappearing quickly than other inland forests than expected. Experts are informing us that, the outcome of disappearing of mangrove will result to Fisheries declines, Threats to migratory bird species, Degradation of Clean water supplies, Salinization of coastal soils, Erosion and land subsidence. Some of the impact mentioned has started to be visible threatening sustainability of Islands, people and the rest of the eco system. This project is organized to respond to these challenge hence contribute to the ecological sustainability.

    Project description
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. These 17 Goals build on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals, while including new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption, peace and justice, among other priorities. The goals are interconnected – often the key to success on one will involve tackling issues more commonly associated with another. The SDGs work in the spirit of partnership and pragmatism to make the right choices now to improve life, in a sustainable way, for future generations. The goals provide clear guidelines and targets for all countries to adopt in accordance with their own priorities and the environmental challenges of the world at large.

Realization of these goals by 2030 will depend on various factors on which
Grassroots ownership is one of them. The Global sustainable development goal project is aiming to contribute to awareness creation leading to change-oriented communication in which all the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and target are communicated to community groups in response to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This project is a platform for volunteers and other interested members to become stimulated to contribute their own ideas and energies, thus contributing to live debates on sustainable issues. This will be realized through community events, interactive sessions on the SGDs and their targets, capacity building for community stakeholders and dialogue with local Government authorities in relations to SDGs and the targets.

    Project activities
SDG advocate volunteers shall be expected to be engaged in the following activities:-
 Tree planting and establishment of community Tree nursery: Planting trees is a great way to help sequester carbon emissions. Selected native trees species will be planted; this helps to preserve the environment and biodiversity. Planting will take place at the UVIKIUTA’ eco village and other protected biodiversity sites. For sustainable tree planting activities volunteers will engage as well in establishment of native tree nursery. By planting trees & Tree nursery establishment during this program Volunteers will be helping provide wildlife habitats & support biodiversity, Nutrition through fruits and medicinal plants, Plant native Tanzania/Coastal trees, Enhance the natural landscape, and offset CO2 emissions.

 SDGs Education and awareness: This activity aims to inform volunteers , community members and all targeted about Sustainable development goals, mobilize great support for action for SDGs grassroots participation and providing tools to engage critically with global development issues to foster ideas and change attitudes. This will be implemented through workshops, debates, discussions, educational tours, community events, Music, Arts, Sports and other creative methodologies.

    Working hours

    Project description
Most Schools in Tanzania has long vacation in the month of June and December where students stays home. During this time, kids are expected to join family members for extracurricular activities, educational tours and other studies outside class rooms. However the experience has indicated that, most students does not have any structured activities that are fully involving them for personal and academic development.

As a result, bad influence in the society during holiday time has affected the kids significantly since they join different peer groups and with limited supervision of their parents or guardian. This project is therefore aiming to fill the gap through effective utilizing vocation time to allow student/kids to join structured activities that we will contribute to their growth as well allow parents to consternate in productive economic activities.

    Project description
Environmental sustainability is a project which has been implemented around this area for the past three years. The community is sharing boarder with the forest around Mount Kilimanjaro and there is a big dependency on this important conserved forest. Majority of the communities living around the sloops are usually work in agriculture growing mostly coffee, bananas and other food crops. A big number of families still have traditionally cooked their meals on the ground in the house over an open flame. As a traditional house usually has only one room, the whole house is filled with smoke before and after meals. The smoke is thick and stays in the house as only a little hole in the roof allows for ventilation.

As a result, acute respiratory and eye diseases are a significant problem for women and children. Additionally, this traditional form of cooking requires large amounts of firewood, which puts pressure on the Mount Kilimanjaro forest and is thus a major contributor to climate change. This project is therefore working towards initiatives to reduce pressure to the forest through promotion of healthy and energy serve stoves.

    Project activities
Volunteers are expected to engage in the following activities:-
 Building and Installation of stoves: - Working with locals to build and install simple energy serves stoves in their households. The stoves will be built in few house as demonstration for the rest of the community learn and implement in their homes. The technology is very simple and volunteers will receive training on how to do it.
 Community Tree nursery: Assisting in establishment and management community tree nursery. This will involve collecting of indigenous trees seeds, medicinal plants and herbs to create a demo plot for educational purpose.
 Community support: Assist in visiting senior women especial those who have been affected by the old way of cooking and support their home activities. (Home-based care).

    Working hours
Volunteers are expected to join activities for about 6-8 hours a day. Sometimes is very flexible and it can be less or more. We will have 3 hours lunch break between morning and afternoon activities.

    ● 위치

The project will take place in a small community called Marangu, famous for been a starting point for Mount Kilimanjaro truckers. The next bigger town is Moshi which is the capital of Kilimanjaro. Marangu is one of the communities located along the sloops of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the Northern Tanzania. Majority of community members are involved in coffee and banana farming, diary, fruits and vegetable production. Small minority are involved with petty trade, micro finance business and tourism.
