Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
Thai New Year season called “Songkran” will be held on 13-15 April. Songkran is an important
custom for Thai families, community and religion. It is also very popular with visitors. Thai
people will prepare themselves for the beginning of the New Year by cleaning their houses and
prepare celebration the festival in the local temples and communities. There are many
activities during the festival including the water splashing, the bathing rite for Buddha images
and the monks, and the performances for all 3 days. Moreover, local foods that it is not easy to
find in the normal day will be provided by the local people. Everyone can get join in the
celebration and festival.
VSA has organized this workcamp for 8th times to support the festival and celebrating Thai
traditional New Year with the international participants by collaboration with the local temple
and community. This year, VSA hope that we can continue to help the local preparing the
festival, and exchange the culture.
Description of work:
Joining the festival – During the Songkran festival, the participant will be a part of the
festival as an international participant. The participant will help the local people to prepare
the celebration of the festival. You can bring a performance from your own country to
perform during the festival including a music instrument to show at the festival. The
participant is also expected to create a performance in the festival with the villagers.
Kitchen garden – The participant will work in the small farm as a kitchen garden. They can
renovate and plant some vegetables for making the food in the future

Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Nakhon Ratchasima, learning and sharing the
intercultural and language still are the main purpose. Volunteers will share and exchange
culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and students in the school.
English as the global language and intercultural learning are important for local Thai people
to understand and be for global citizens. English is also the gateway to open mind and
knowledge. The project was created by VSA Thailand and has been successful for eight
years. Former volunteers came to give the opportunity for children in schools and the local
community. Many local people improved their English skills through exchanging with
international volunteers, or at least they try to speak the English language more and dare to
face and work with the foreigner even though they cannot speak English. Moreover,
volunteers’ activities impacted the local community. They used to stay lively and trusty with
the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt the ways of life with
the different cultures.
Ban Krogluek School is a primary school, there are about 10 teachers and 100 students from
kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old). VSA has sent volunteers to this
School since 2015.
Ban Maab Grad School is a primary school, there are about 9 teachers, 1 janitor and 60
students from kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomsuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old). VSA has sent
volunteers to this School since 2022.
Description of work:
Volunteers will work as a teacher in the school, using English to communicate. Volunteers
can teach the subject that requires the most skill or English for communication. Using Nonformal education tools for teaching. Teaching English mostly will be in the morning.
School renovation – Volunteers will do the school renovation, wall painting or playground
renovation, agriculture with teachers and students. Most of the renovation will be in the
afternoon session.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
Ban Salanam School is a very small school in Banphrao, Pakpayom district, Phatthalung province, Southern Thailand. The school director who shares the same values as Dalaa would like to provide the chance for the students to improve their English by using the language in real life with foreign volunteers. There are 118 students in this school. Volunteers can help organize English lessons or other fun activities with the students from kindergarten to Grade 6 (6-12 years old). The English skills of the students are very poor, and they are not familiar with foreigners. Here you can experience the locals’ way of life, exchange your cultures with other volunteers and villagers, and support the children’s education.
Description of work:
1- Provide a non-formal English classes and other fun activities for the students
2- Create teaching materials for teachers and kids
3- Activities with villagers: cleaning the temple area, sport activities, homemade dessert
The place where the project/workcamp will take place: Ban Salanum School, Ban Phrao sub district, Phatthalung province
Description of accommodation and food:
Volunteers will sleep in the classroom. There will be only some yoga mats, pillows, and mosquito nets. We suggest you bring your own sleeping bag, inflatable mattress, or another yoga mat. It’s ok if you don’t bring any of those, but you need to be sure that you will be comfortable in such condition.
There are basic toilets, showers and a kitchen at the school canteen. The teachers and villagers are willing to help you to cook as well. Local people eat rice (or noodles) 3 times a day with side dishes like curries, omelets, local leaves and vegetables. Volunteers will be welcome to cook their own food using the ingredients available there. (No oven, only a gas and woks or pans).

Volunteer will be divided to work in rural school as English teachers, preparing lessons with
the teacher at the school (do not expect this point too much even the teachers are also shy
to speak out).
Creative teaching English–Non-formal education tools can be used for creative teaching;
volunteer is not required teaching certificate but requiring to be creative. Aims of creative
teaching is giving the chance for students in the school and local community to have an
opportunity to communicate with different language and learn difference culture.
Volunteer would use Non-formal education tools to make an activities base on intercultural
and language such as the games, songs, storytelling, and dancing. Also, it should focus on
communication; listening and speaking

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
Mae Kham Por homestay is a place where the participant can learn the local way of
daily life such as food, agriculture, style of costume, and local Thai massage. Mae
Kham Por homestay has been developed by VSA since 2015 for sustainable ecoparticipant located at Chang Keung village, Mae Chaem district, 2: 30 hours from
Chiangmai city. There are 10,000 population, 2,500 habitats. The main occupation of
the village is agriculture, rice terrace, fruit farm, and livestock. Some villagers are still
making their own textile where participants can learn.
Description of work:
Organic farming – Participant help in rice terrace and fruit farm. There are pineapple, corn
farms. Craft – The rest of time from your main work, the important thing is to learn and
share with the villagers by visiting, talking and doing activities with them. You will get a
rich experience by learning and sharing from each other. In the village there are many
heritage local crafts such as pillows, cloths, baskets, etc. Participants will learn and support
the community by either way.
Ecotourism – There are many interesting places to visit in the community such as the
Buddhist temple, waterfall, national park etc. The participants would go to visit these
places and collect garbage, promoting recycling and keeping the place clean. Creative
teaching English – Creative teaching is important to recognize; a teaching certificate does
not need a specific quality of the participant but creativity is the one of yours. The aims of
creative teaching are giving the chance for people in the village or the place nearby to
have the opportunity to communicate with different languages, touch 19 different
cultures, and believe. The participant will go to primary school nearby homestay or
practice English for local people in the village.

Ayutthaya: Stamp on the heritage from the past to present
Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
The Historic City of Ayutthaya, founded in 1350, was the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom. It flourished from the 14th to the 18th centuries, during which time it grew to be one of the world’s largest and most cosmopolitan urban areas and a center of global diplomacy and commerce. Ayutthaya was strategically located on an island surrounded by three rivers connecting the city to the sea.
In term of World heritage volunteer, we would like to implement international workcamp which is match on hands on activities of WHV concept, working on the field of culture heritage to international perception through International Voluntary Service network.
Regarding pandemic situation, social media and online information technology has influence in world society, the effective way to stimulate perception of world heritage is providing us abilities information and in online information platform. Thus, the objective of the project is to create Thai world heritage in online media forms to create awareness of world heritage site in terms of value awareness, sense of related, action to preserve or be part of social value guarding .

**Activities proposed above can be adjusted according to the current incidents of sudden, possible unavailability of project matters, weather condition, etc.
We’ll keep you updated 1 month or 2 weeks before the camp starts**
** You will be supervised by a DaLaa coordinator who will be the link between the volunteers’ team and the local schools. The school director can also speak good English. **
** We will try to mix Thai volunteers and international from different countries but we cannot guarantee it. We will keep you informed during and after your application.

• Laundry: expect to hand-wash your clothes
• Water supply and electricity: available
• Internet/phone access: there are WIFI at our place and mobile phone network is available
• Phuket city is about 25 km away. It has a good quality hospital.
• ATM, hospital and market easy to reach around our place.
• Clothes worn in the village: You will be living in the school area with elderly people and children around so it is appropriate that you dress modestly, for example no short skirts or shorts too far above the knees. Also women should wear tops that cover their shoulders. If you go to waterfall on holidays, bikini is not appropriate to swim. Please wear a short and a top instead. You will learn more about Thai culture at the introduction day so please don’t worry too much. You will quickly learn when it best to dress more informally and when it is important to cover up
• Language: only very few people in the village can speak good English. Learning basic Thai and body language will be necessary
• Few things not to forget: Flashlight, mosquito repellent (nature friendly if possible), light long sleeves clothes, hat, something to show your culture, food, pictures, games, music, your motivation and beautiful smiles.
• You are given 2 free days during the 2 weeks and plenty of free time in the evenings that can be spent on daily meetings or building the group by playing various games and having discussions. Personal expenses on camp holiday are covered by volunteers themselves.
• The villagers are Muslim so there must be no pork nor alcohol products.

Considered by the founder of Chiang Mai and his advisors to be the auspicious attributes to the ideal and victorious location according to the traditional beliefs and geomancy for city planning, and in accordance with the Lanna philosophy of "Chaiya Phum", today the cultural landscape of Chiang Mai is still of vital importance to the modern-day city, and generally embraced by the people as symbols of their spiritual identity.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
Peace Village Songkhla has been established in 2011 at Peace Village, everyone can come to learn in the main aim is learning by doing and international community Living. We can study about each country, nationalities, cultures, etc. in the class but in the real situation is not in the lesson where you can see how the difference of people even they are from the same city.
Peace Village is active at the rural area of Songkhla province, Southern of Thailand in the small village; the name “Ban Ton San” (Ban in Thai mean village). The main occupation is rubber plantation and most of the villagers are Buddhist.

Description of work:
Volunteer will be divided to work in rural school as English teachers, preparing lessons with the teacher at the school (do not expect this point too much even the teachers are also shy to speak out).
Creative teaching English – Non-formal education tools can be used for creative teaching; volunteer is not required teaching certificate but requiring to be creative. Aims of creative teaching is giving the chance for students in the school and local community to have an opportunity to communicate with different language and learn difference culture
Center renovation – As we have the center, VSA Learning Home, now we also need a volunteer to set up the center as when they have spare time from main work. We are going to clean repair and renovate the center.
Kitchen Garden – Volunteer will work in the small farm as a kitchen garden. They can renovate and plant some vegetables for making the food in the future.

Participants will stay at Learning Home (Homestay) in Thai style dormitory. Share one big room together, separate male and female. Basic and simple. Mattress, pillow, blanket and fan are provided. Washing clothes by hand. Internet can be used at the school. No internet at Learnign HOME.
The volunteer will take turn cooking Thai ingredients with Thai coordinator.
