Peace Village Songkhla has been creating in 2011 at Peace Village, everyone can come to learn in the main aim is learning by doing and international community Living. We can study about each country, nationalities, cultures, etc. in the class but in the real situation is not in the lesson where you can see how the difference of people even they are from the same city.
Peace Village is active at the rural area of Songkhla province, Southern of Thailand in the small village; the name “BanTonSan” (Ban in Thai mean village). The main occupation is rubber plantation and most of the villagers are Buddhist.

WORK
Creative teaching English – Creative teaching is important to recognize; teaching certificate does not need for specific quality of the but creative is the one of yours.The aims of creative teaching are given the chance for people in the village or the place nearby can communicate with different language, touch difference culture, and believing.

Center renovation – As we have the center, VSA Learning Home, now we also need a to setup the center as when they have spare time from main work. We are going to clean the ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD and meeting area, and continue to build and paint the construction that the last did.There are villagers help and teach how to build. This is a good way to learn Thai way of the construct. Also, the can make the chair in this part.

Relationship with the villagers – The rest of time form your main work, important thing is to learn and share with the villager by visiting, talking and do activities with them. You will get rich experience by learning and sharing from each other.

Kitchen garden – The will work in the small farm as a kitchen garden. They can renovate and plant some vegetables for making the food in the future.

BACKGROUND
Poo Can Ban Leng Clay is green home stay/resort where the local host is the Art freelance teacher. They teach Art for the students in the school and community for free and help them to learning art in various form, painting, music, clay house as well as support them using art for their accupation. There is music festival which has been organized every year in the clay house hone stay and resort.
The center open for everyone who keen to learn and homeless to would like to start the new life by learning new skills be enterpreneur.

WORK
Build the clay house ​ – will learn and help the local host to prepare the clay building and repairing the house.

Teaching the art as an assistant – The will be an assistant to teach the art in the schools and community. Also create recreation activity such as game, song, intercutural exchange together with art club.

Farming work ​ – growing and eating what we grow. The idea of green home stay to have clean and safe food.

BACKGROUND
Mae Kham Por homestay is a place where the participant can learn the local way of daily life such as food, agriculture, style of costume, and local Thai massage. Mae Kham Por homestay has been developed by VSA since 2015 for sustainable eco-participant located at Chang Keung village, Mae Chaem district, 2: 30 hours from Chiangmai city. There are 10,000 population, 2,500 habitats. The main occupation of the village is agriculture, rice terrace,fruit farm,and livestock. Some villagers are still making their own textile where participants can learn

WORK
Organic farming ​ – Participant help in rice terrace and fruit farm. There are pineapple, corn farm.

Craft – The rest of time from your main work, the important thing is to learn and share with the villager by visiting, talking and doing activities with them. You will get rich experience by learning and sharing from each other. In the village there are many heritage local craft such as pillow,cloths,basket,etc.Participants will learn and support the community by either ways.

Ecotourism – There are many interesting places to visit in the community such as the Buddhist temple, waterfall,national park etc.
The participant would go to visit these places and collecting garbage, promoting recycle and keeping the place clean.

Creative teaching English – Creative teaching is important to recognize; teaching certificate does not need for specific quality of the participant but creative is the one of yours. The aims of creative teaching are giving the chance for people in the village or the place nearby have the opportunity to communicate with different language, touch difference culture, and believing. The participant will go to primary school nearby homestay or practice English for local people in the village.

Project description
Ban Prang Mu School is a very small school in Ban Prang Mu sub district, Phatthalung province, Southern Thailand. The school director, who shares our values, would like to welcome volunteers, to improve English skills for students to be able to communicate in this language. Volunteers can help to organize English lessons or other fun activities with the 91 students from kindergarten to Grade 6 (6-12 years old) during these 2 weeks. The English skills of the students are very poor. They are not familiar with foreigners. You can experience the local way of life, exchange with other volunteers, villagers and support the children education.

Aims of the project
• To support Ban Prang Mu School
• To be part of the community of Ban Prang Mu village
• To let children be familiar with volunteers and learn in international/multi-culture atmosphere
• To improve English skills for students to be able to communicate with foreigners

Project activities
• Giving non-formal English classes and other fun activities with the students
• Create teaching materials for teacher and kids
• Activities with villagers: cleaning the temple area, sport activities, homemade cooking dessert

Mueang Phatthalung, Thailand

Volunteers will sleep in the classroom. There will be simple mats, pillow, and mosquito net. You will need to bring your sleeping bag and a small mattress. There are basic toilets, showers and a kitchen at the school canteen. The teachers and villagers will help the volunteers to cook. Local people eat rice (or noodles) 3 times a day with side dishes like curries, omelets, local leaves, and vegetables. Volunteers will be welcome to cook their own food using the ingredients available there.

(No oven, only a gas and woks or pans).

WORK
Living environment daily routine in general, that means everything from a small cleaning to construction work, building, repairing, anything can be valuable and also teaching and learning new things outside the classroom.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Creative teaching – Creative teaching could make learning more fun and easier to remember. The participant doesn't need to have a teaching certificate, only a will to build your creativity for teaching and make learning English more fun, most importantly for the student and for yourself. The aims of creative teaching are to give opportunities for the villagers to learn and exchange the differences in culture, the languages and beliefs.

School Renovation – To rebuild and maintain the good living atmosphere and environment for students learning ground including; playground renovation, school building, planting, etc.

Relationship with the villagers – Apart from your free time, it considers a bonus learning experience, both for yourself and villagers, simply by sharing; giving them visits, stop by for a friendly chat, sharing stories or even join in activities with them. Sometimes, you could be surprised at how learning by doing in real life could give such wonderful surprise or even unexpected results simply by just doing.

Organic Farm – learning how to produce our own non – chemical food and vegetables.

Banrai Temple

Project description
Koh Yao is a Muslim island in the Andaman sea of South Thailand. Since it started to become a tourist attraction, there have been some big changes in the local communities’ lifestyle. The villagers started to move from fishing and agriculture to tourism industry-related work. People realized slowly the dangers of losing their friendly sufficient communities and environment issues are rising quickly. During these 2 weeks, volunteers will join the school; primary – high school, to help to organize activities with kids and take part in the realities of the local population. This way we hope to get more mutual understanding between the local population and the international communities and make a small step in a better direction for all of us.

Aims of the project
• To support alternative education for students.
• To bring awareness on voluntary mind and public participation among the community members.
• To develop cultural exchange among the community members.

Project activities
• Organizing creative English teaching activities with kids with two different schools of Koh Yao Education Development Network on Koh Yao Yai.
• Learning village lifestyle and increasing participation of the villagers
• Voluntary service activities with the community

Project description
There is an organic garden where the host just started to live in after a long period of volunteering around the world. She has the desire to transmit her knowledge and her experiences to others. Therefore, she decided to create this voluntary project for everyone who desires to learn how to live independently with the community and sustainability, in accordance with nature and happiness.

Aims of the project
• To learn about permaculture.
• To exchange knowledge and experiences about voluntary works.
• To learn how to live independently, sustainably.
• To be a part of the community.
• To let children be familiar with volunteers and learn in international/multi-culture atmosphere
• To improve English skills for students and teachers to be able to communicate with foreigners.

Project activities
• The principal work will be with the community; helping at the school and helping at the village’s project.
• Give non-formal English classes and other fun activities with the students
• To teach English to teachers, according to teachers in the community cannot speak English well.
• Different activities will be propose at the garden depending of the time, season and length of stay around permaculture and gardening

Chumphon, Thailand

We propose a 1- floor house with 1 bedroom with 4 beds for volunteers, 1 bedroom for the host, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen and a working space. There are a dog and a cat. We will share responsibility for cooking every week.

Requirements
The volunteers should be ready to stay in a local area, to adapt to the local conditions with only basic facilities. The volunteer should be open minded, ready to learn new things, interested in non-formal education and permaculture.

BACKGROUND
Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Songkhla, learning and sharing the intercultural and language still are the main purpose. Volunteers will share and exchange culture, language, and knowledge with the local community and students in the school.
English as the global language and intercultural learning are important for local Thai people to understand and being for global citizens. English is also the gateway to open mind and knowledge. After the project was created by VSA Thailand on 2011 and has been successful for eight years. Former volunteers came to give the opportunity for children in schools and local community. Many local people improved their English skills through exchanging with international volunteers, or at least they try to speak the English language more and dare to face and work with the foreigner even though they cannot speak English. Moreover, volunteers’ activities impacted local community. They used to stay lively and trustily with the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt the ways of life with the different cultures.
Songkhla is VSA basement, there are many schools require international volunteers to teach in their school. So, volunteer expect to work in rural school which ready on duration of volunteer staying.

WORK
Volunteer will be divided to work in rural school as English teachers, preparing lessons with the teacher at the school (do not expect this point too much even the teachers are also shy to speak out).

Creative teaching English –Non-formal education tools can be used for creative teaching; volunteer is not required teaching certificate but requiring to be creative. Aims of creative teaching is giving the chance for students in the school and local community to have an opportunity to communicate with different language and learn difference culture.

Volunteer would use Non-formal education tools to make an activities base on intercultural and language such as the games, songs, storytelling, and dancing. Also, it should focus on communication; listening and speaking.

Hat Yai International Airport, Hat Yai Bus Terminal or Hat Yai Train Station.

MEETING POINT
VSA LEARNING HOME at 14:00 on 7 September 2020

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD
The volunteer will stay at Learning Home or with a local home stay (shared room with other volunteers).
Volunteers expect to cook with Thai ingredient with host family. Internet can be used at the school.
