Come to Salins-les-Bains, a small typical town in the French Jura, for an incredible experience! Salins is a welcoming town which has an impressive natural, gastronomic, and architectural heritage, such as the famous UNESCO listed salt works; you will have the chance to take part in the enhancement of local heritage by taking part in this project! For the fourth summer in a row, this project will be organized with the Community Center for Social Actions that is running this project and hopes to set up many interactions between the international volunteers and the local population during the camp.

WORK: The town owns a land plot in the centre that the representatives of the Community Center for Social Actions wishes to transform into a community garden. In order to secure the access to the future garden, the municipality needs to renovate the fortification wall under there with the help of an international volunteers’ team. You will help renovate an ancient fortification using traditional masonry techniques: removing old coatings, jointing, and rebuilding some destroyed parts of the wall. You will be trained and supervised by a specialist who will happily share with you his knowledge and expertise. Please don’t forget to bring strong and closed shoes and clothes for the work! You will work 5 hours a day, in the morning, 5 days a week.

Mouchard
- Located in the charming valley of La Furieuse, in the heart of the Jura region, Salins-les-Bains is a little typical town of Franche-Comté that has over 3000 inhabitants. Overlooked by two ancient forts and the Mount Poupet, the town owns a rich cultural and natural heritage, as well as beautiful buildings which show the glorious past of this “saline city”; among them the UNESCO world heritage “Saline building”. Salins-les-Bains developed with extraction and commercialization of salt and hosts nowadays many spa-goers. Possible leisure activities for the group: visit of the town, of the Salt museum, hiking in the surrounding mountains, swimming, shared meals and parties with locals, visit of a vineyard etc. You will be in charge of organizing an international meal for the inhabitants during your stay; please do not forget to bring specialties and traditional recipes from your country, as well as pictures, music, trinkets, costumes etc. to share your culture! TERMINAL: Mouchard

Accommodation will be in the Golden Tower (Tour Dorée), another architectural beauty in Salins. You will be closed to the workplace. You will find a space for preparing meals, eating, showering, and using the toilets. You will also have access to a garden and a terrace. You can have the choice to sleep inside or in the garden with tents. Jeunesse et Reconstruction will provide tents and ground mattresses, but please don’t forget to bring your sleeping bag and bed sheet. Meals will be prepared by volunteers for the whole group. Do not hesitate to bring ingredients and recipes to show your country’s gastronomy. You will participate in the daily tasks and the group organization: cooking, washing dishes, cleaning. We cannot take care of you if you arrive before the starting date of the project, or if you stay after.

International workcamps of young volunteers, carried out previously in the village of Antichan de Frontignes having been a success, the mayor wants to host a new international workcamp to implement concrete actions to improve the living environment and to integrate volunteers to the local life and especially during the village festival (popular annual event...). The residents will give you a warm welcome and expect many exchanges with you.

WORK: You will participate in various works in the village (pruning, weeding, cleaning of footpaths...) and you will also participate in the organization, conduct and closure of the local festival that animates and mobilizes every year much of the population over this period.

Montrejeau-gourdan-polignan
- 580 m altitude, 87 residents, Antichan of Frontignes is a small rural village at the foot of the chain of Pyrenees near the Spanish border, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. Animation: the site is rather isolated but offers many opportunities for hiking, visiting the beautiful local built heritage, sports; possibility of swimming in the lake near the village ... and the village is very lively during the festival.

You will stay in tents near the village. Sanitation (toilets and showers) are available nearby. The association provides tents and sleeping pads. Bring your towel and sleeping bag. We cannot pick you if you arrive before the start of camp.

The municipality of Bramevaque and the district council of Barousse are mobilized to maintain and to restore the remains of the castle of the “Earls of Comminges” which attracts many visitors. For 21 years now, the small village of Bramevaque has been hosting international workcamps every summer which makes it possible to carry out this task and to create an original event in the village.

WORK: Supervised by an experienced mason, you will continue the conservation of the remains of the castle of the Earls of Comminges: clearing of the overgrowth, masonry, building of small stone walls. The site hosts several hundreds of visitors in the summer months.

Montrejeau-gourdan-polignan
- Bramevaque is a small rural village of 30 inhabitants, at the foot of the Pyrenees mountains which mark the border with Spain. The site offers beautiful landscapes and view points. The Barousse valley is one of the most remarquable valleys of the Pyrenees; it is also on the itinerary of the “Tour de France” cycling race. Possible free time activities : hiking, swimming in the river, visit of prehistorical caves, the famous abbey of St Bertrand de Comminges, the watersports resort of Antignac, the Barousse museum. You will stay in tents in the grounds of the castle. Important: housing conditions are very simple and rudimentary (dry toilets and solar showers), notice to the lovers of peace and nature. Access to the castle is only by foot (10 minute steep path from the village, watch out for your travel bags - prefer a backpack). We cannot accommodate you if you arrive before the starting date of the workcamp.

Description of the workcamp activities:
Get involved in the restoration of a villa of the late nineteenth century that has retained most of its original style. The restoration tasks will require to work on scaffolding for the restoration of the brick façade. You will also contribute to the maintenance and development of the garden typical of the “rococo style”. Outdoor activities, inter-workcamps meetings and visits to the heritage of the region! Paris is not far so transportation up to the site will be easy for none experimented travellers.

First regional group of REMPART movement to emerge following the will of decentralization of the National Union in the 80s, the Group REMPART Ile-de-France dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the heritage in the region Ile-de- France. It now counts 20 local associations. The Association is accredited Youth and Popular Education. Groupement REMPART Ile-de-France intends to help the emergence of new structures to safeguard and enhance heritage and convey its expertise to new member associations. The group REMPART Ile-de-France is also working to advertise the activities of its members at regional level through the establishment and activation of a network of external partners.

Description of the workcamp activities:
Under the guidance of an archaeologist and a stone mason, you will work on a wall of a 17th century castle. The project will consist mainly of traditional masonry. Archaeological surveys will be conducted in parallel to understand the anchoring of a wall in the castle. Also on the program: vegetation clearing, repackaging and restoration of plaster. Do not miss accommodation in yurts either!

Welcome to the medieval village of Caylus, discover a place marked by centuries of history! Caylus is a small town marked by it's quaintness, whose streets and alleys hang to the flank of a rocky hill on which stands the rests of a castle. Amateurs of past master-works and “old stones” will see their expectations fulfilled by the many old houses and “middle ages” shops, the main street, new castle, ruins of the old royal castle and the Gauléjac ward. You will be part of a huge rehabilitation project that aims to enhance Caylus' lake area and more specially the terraces that are a little left out, and used to be a main feature of village life in the past.

Work: You will work on the restoration of a drystone support wall that stands at the beginning of a future walking path that will go around the village. The technical leader will teach you all necessary skills in drystone building technique. Another task will be to cut back the dense undergrowth that has taken over the terrace gardens in order to open up the beautiful view over the valley.

Leisure activities: You will have the opportunity to discover this area of South West France, rich in natural sites, such as the Aveyron canyons, the local “petrified” waterfall of Caylus, as well as architectural heritage: old houses, abbeys, castles. You can also discover local festivities, many summer festivals take place in the area.

Project : In visiting Domme village, you will get into in the medieval history of a village from the 13th century. Domme has the most famous panorama of Périgord region, plunging on the Dordogne River. Come and contribute in the enhancement of the village, at the foot of the famous “Porte des Tours” known for its Templars graffiti. Right under the village lies a fantastic world made of natural caves and water mirrors emphasized by surreal lighting. This year you will have to maintain an ancient cultural site right below Domme outer walls.

Work : With the help of a technical facilitator, you will continue the work of safeguard of the site started a few years ago. You will have to clear the vegetation and rebuild walls made of dry stones using traditional masonry techniques along the city outer walls.

You will be staying in the municipal gymnasium with access to kitchen and shared bathrooms. You will share the cleaning chores and prepare meals together. Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
The General Council inherited the domain of Villevaux in 2008. The property measures 20 hectars composed of nature and two buildings. Mr Jean Husson, the donor of the site had a wish : find concrete solutions to reinvigorate this exceptional site respecting its environmental qualities and public's vocation. The building and the lands situated at the bottom of the valley are part of a sensitive natural area of the Meurthe-et-Moselle General Council. The beautiful site is also called the "Small Switzerland of Lorraine"!

Description of work:
You will take part in the renovation of the Mill, used as refuge for the children who attend some educational sessions about the environment.

Pont-à-Mousson is also called the " small Switzerland of Lorraine ". The territory is composed of forests of beech trees, oaks trees, green valleys, its numerous streams and its small mounds, valleys and meadows of a breathtaking green!

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
This will be the third consecutive year that an international workcamp is set up on the site of the Pompey Castle. In the Mid-term the objective is to work on the entire rampart to make it the background of an open-air theatre as the town hall of Pompey wishes.

Description of work:
The workcamp consists in the rehabilitation of a part of the rampart between the towers 8 and 10. It implies taking off all the herbs and plants around, careful listing of the stones and reconstruction and solidification of the chosen part of the rampart.

Description of location and leisure:
Pompey is 10 minutes away from Nancy, city of the Duc Stanislas and his mythical Place Stanislas, considered as one of the top 5 most beautiful square in the world! It is 1h30 away from the capital, Paris, in high-speed train. The workcamp is just next to a tree-climbing park and other leisure activities. Come and enjoy the contacts with the local associations and people.

The municipality of Eaux Bonnes, where you were placed, was damaged by a big flood last month and the city was classified as a natural disaster. We did our best to find a solution to do the camp; unfortunately we had to cancel it. In the same time, the city of Gradignan, in the frame of their sustainable development program, wanted to organise a workcamp to associate locals and youth from the city to international volunteers on activities useful to the community. Gradignan is an important city with several green areas (20 parks in total) and the strong will to offer their inhabitants a sustainable city policy that everyone can be part of. With this proposal, we would like to propose an alternative to the camp of Eaux Bonnes. The framework of the camp won’t be the same, but we will give you all the means to travel to Pyrenees Mountains during the week-end so that you can enjoy it and organise long trek and different activities in this region. You will also be able to reach the Atlantic Ocean and its beautiful beaches, less than 1 hour away!

You will contribute to renovate the house of “Verger-Refuge” located in the middle of the city. That wooden house has suffered from floods and therefore needs to be repaired in order to welcome children in a natural and safe environment once again. To be more specific, you are going to have to restore the main hall by repainting the walls and preparing the floor for its new coating. Depending on your progress, you may have to do some various enhancement works around. This place is quite crowded and hosts a lot of events; there is no doubt you will benefit from Gradignan’s people support in your endeavour.

Gradignan city is very close form Bordeaux that you will be able to visit easily along with the Garonne region.

You will be staying on the “Clos du Vivier” leisure center. You will sleep under tents for 2 that will be provided. Please bring your sleeping bag. You will also have to manage a budget provided by the group facilitators and participate in grocery shopping, giving priority to healthy and local foods.

아이슬란드 수도(Reykjavik) 이외의 지역에서 개최되는 워크캠프의 경우 캠프 기간 전후로 최소 하루의 여유를 두고 항공권을 준비하시기 바랍니다.

아이슬란드 워크캠프는 다른 국가의 워크캠프에 비해 참가자들의 자유시간이 많은 편입니다. 자유시간은 캠프 리더와 참가자 간의 상의 하에 결정(문화 교류, 근교 여행, 휴식 등)될 수 있습니다.

아이슬란드는 비바람이 잦고 한 여름을 제외하고는 날씨가 매우 춥습니다. 따라서 방한복 및 방수복을 준비해 가시고, 여름에도 긴 소매의 옷을 가져가시는 것이 좋습니다.
