Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
Partenaire de longue date et habitué de l'organisation des chantiers de bénévoles, Pompey est une ville dynamique, solidaire, qui a à coeur de valoriser ses jeunes et toutes leurs compétences. La ville déploie chaque été des personnes-ressources, ainsi qu'un tissu associatif très riche pour le bon déroulement du chantier.

Long-time partner and regular organiser of volunteering workcamps, Pompey is a dynamic and supportive town that is committed to highlighting the skills of its youth. Every summer, the town deploys people and a rich network of associations to ensure the smooth running of the project.

    Description of work:

For 10 years, we have been organizing projects at the Plateau de l'Avant-Garde, the site of the former fortress, to restore the town’s beautiful heritage. This year, volunteers will work directly on the remains of the medieval castle, continuing the efforts of previous projects. By hosting the project, Pompey aims to introduce international volunteers to the local culture while also opening up the local population to other cultures and new ways of life.
Join an eco-friendly project to help preserve the remains of a Romanesque fortress and a Gothic castle. With the guidance of a traditional masonry professional, volunteers will help clear vegetation from the ruins and restore them, prepare lime mortar, dismantle and reassemble walls, and carry out plastering, jointing, and roofing using traditional techniques. Expect physically demanding work at times, with some tasks carried out at height. During periods of extreme heat, work will be limited to mornings. The project is certified “100% Ecology” and employs methods that respect both the site and the environment. In case of extreme weather, such as heavy rain or heatwaves, the schedule may be adapted to ensure your safety and that of everyone involved.

    Pompey

    Description of location and leisure:
Pompey est une ville située sur les bords verdoyants de la Moselle. Elle est notamment célèbre pour son histoire industrielle, mais elle constituait au Moyen-Âge une place forte très importante, un poste de surveillance efficace pour la Moselle et ses alentours. Aujourd'hui, Pompey est à la fois proche de grandes villes touristiques mais aussi de lieux plus confidentiels et la nature environnante regorge d'activités de sports et loisirs en tous genres.

Pompey is a town situated along the lush banks of the Moselle River. It is famous for its industrial history but was once a significant stronghold during the Middle Ages, serving as an effective watchpost for the Moselle and its surroundings. Today, Pompey is ideally located near major tourist cities, while also being close to more hidden spots, with the surrounding nature offering a wide range of sports and leisure activities.

    Description of accommodation and food:

Accommodation is provided in tents, just a few meters from the project site. Everything is organized on-site with respect for the environment, aiming for the most eco-friendly lifestyle possible and testing solutions that could be applied to other projects. Be prepared to experiment and share your suggestions!
Beyond working hours, volunteers come together to organise daily life on the camp. Often divided into teams, they plan menus, help with the shopping, prepare meals, and ensure the cleanliness of shared spaces. Fully involved in shaping your experience, you will also take part in decision-making regarding group activities and daily organisation!
In order to reduce the environmental impact of our projects, we prioritise vegetarian menus, which meet all the nutrional needs of participants.
There will be French volunteers on the workcamp. Some of them might not speak English. This can be an opportunity for everyone to develop new language skills and innovatove ways of communicating!

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
This is our first partnership with the town of Saint-Guilhem-le-Desert. We are working in collaboration with municipal services dedicated to heritage, tourism, and the environment. This project contributes to the promotion of the town’s hiking trails.

    Description of work:
Do you love picturesque villages and nature? Come help showcase Saint-Guilhem-le-Desert, a medieval village in the south of France. Nestled in the heart of the Herault Gorges, it is listed among the “Most Beautiful Villages of France.” It is also a major stop on the Way of St. James, attracting pilgrims and visitors from around the world.

The castle above Saint-Guilhem-le-Desert has a great view of the Herault Gorges. Only a few pieces of the walls are left today, but the site is still amazing because of the scenery. A local story says a giant helped build it, which gave the castle its name and adds a sense of magic to this historic place.

You will participate in the restoration of the stone path leading to the castle, a hands-on and rewarding project. During this work, you will discover the traditional techniques of “calade” construction. You’ll learn how to select the right stones, how to cut them, and how to arrange them to secure, restore, or rebuild the paths.

This work is essential for enhancing our heritage and providing residents, visitors, hikers, and tourists from all walks of life with better conditions for exploring! It’s a rewarding experience that combines heritage discovery, outdoor activities, and intercultural encounters!

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
This international workcamp is organized in partnership with the Syndicat mixte Rivage and the commune of Le Barcarès, on the edge of the Salses-Leucate Lagoon, a protected wetland renowned for its diverse biodiversity. The partnership between the Syndicat mixte Rivage and REV has existed for several years. The syndicate regularly collaborates with REV on the organization of international workcamps and other one-off events. The two organizations are used to working together and share the same values and ambitions. In addition to removing invasive species (witch's claws, yucca, prickly pear, agave, baccharis, etc.), the aim of this year's workcamp will be to help set up measures to protect and enhance the site's existing biodiversity (e.g., trail development). As the work is weather-dependent, tasks are generally defined at the start of the project.

    Description of work:
This workcamp will enable you to carry out a number of activities: opening up the environment (cutting down trees), delimiting the protected area from the area frequented by kitesurfers (installing wooden barriers), and weeding invasive species to enable endemic species (flora or fauna) to reproduce.
The aim of the project is to preserve the area around the lagoon, whether through visitor management or plant management. (25 hours/week).

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
The Beaumotte Center works towards social and cultural integration by opening its doors to everyone, without distinction. True to its mission, the association promotes active participation from all individuals, creating an environment where living together takes on its full meaning. In a society marked by individualism and consumerism, Beaumotte advocates the idea that every experience, no matter what it is, is a source of wealth and an opportunity to learn. Here, we open up, enrich ourselves, and share practices and knowledge to build a more supportive world. With this in mind.
Beaumotte invites its visitors to overcome the boundaries of socio-cultural differences through collective activities: building walls, sharing recipes from around the world, or painting living spaces in vibrant colors. Together, we cultivate a true community life, with its joys and challenges, where everyone contributes to transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.

    Description of work:
The Beaumotte Center is a living space where each visiting group is invited to contribute to community life. At the start of this year, we need new volunteers full of energy to share friendly moments and help with meal preparation, join the masonry team, or assist with the upkeep of the center.
If the group of participants includes at least six people, we would like to invite you to combine your energy to help us repaint one of the rooms to better welcome our visitors!

    Description of location and leisure:
Beaumotte is located in a small rural village where social activities are few. However, this does not mean that volunteers will feel lonely or bored! At any given time, about 30 people live and work at the Center, with many more passing through regularly. Whether in the afternoons or on weekends, your group will initiate and organize leisure activities. Individual preferences, local possibilities (hiking, multi-sport fields, village visits, etc.), and financial resources will influence your choices.

In La Motte-Servolex, a charming town near Chambéry, you will be warmly welcomed by local residents and take part in a project combining commitment, learning, and cultural exchange.
In partnership with the municipality, this workcamp follows a sustainable approach aiming to improve accessibility and protect the local environment. Supervised by the municipal technical and environmental services, the project is divided into several activities, which will be defined according to the needs identified by the town at the time of the workcamp.
As examples, in previous years volunteers worked on improving a path in a wetland area to make it more accessible, repairing barriers near a school, painting outdoor walls, and creating a mural.
All these activities share the same goal: improving daily life for local residents and people working in the town. This can mean making a path easier to use, making a place safer or more attractive, or giving new life to a space through painting or artistic expression. Each project is always linked to environmental awareness and the enhancement of public spaces.
Whether you are motivated by learning new skills, contributing to a concrete project, or sharing a meaningful human experience, join us for a rewarding and solidarity-based adventure in the heart of the Alps!

For the workcamp, the municipality will provide gloves, reflective vests, and protective goggles, but it is essential to bring closed-toe shoes that can withstand mud and dirt. Bicycles and helmets will be available for your daily travels and excursions, so being comfortable riding a bike is necessary to fully enjoy your stay.

Nights can be chilly, so bring a warm sleeping bag (comfort temperature around 5-10°C) and, if needed, a sleeping pad or extra mattress for added comfort. Also, pack clothing suitable for varying weather conditions, such as a fleece and rain jacket, as well as sun protection : sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle. A swimsuit will also be useful for swimming in pools or water sports areas.

This workcamp is also a great opportunity to share your culture ! Feel free to bring objects, traditional foods, stories, games, or a musical instrument to enrich social activities. A small Bluetooth speaker can also help create a musical atmosphere.
Throughout your stay, events with the local community may be organized in collaboration with various municipal services, providing opportunities for cultural exchange and interaction with residents.

The Beaumotte Center is a place of life where each visiting group is invited to contribute to the collective life. At the start of this year, we need new volunteers full of energy to share moments of conviviality and contribute to meal preparation, join the masonry team, or help with the upkeep of the center.
If the group of participants consists of at least six people, we would like to invite you to combine your energies to help us rebuild a small wooden hut that was used to store our garden tools, which was destroyed a year ago due to a storm

Wi-Fi is available at certain times. Meals are prepared by the volunteers in rotating kitchen teams. Bring your best recipes with you!

    Description of work:
In an idyllic setting, with breathtaking views of the legendary Fort Boyard, this project invites you to participate in the restoration of an exceptional historical site: the Aiguille redoubt, recognised as the largest in France.
Much more than a heritage preservation project, this trip will be a powerful human experience, combining encounters, intercultural exchanges and a shared commitment to building peace alongside the local inhabitants.
At the mouth of the Charente, the Fouras peninsula boasts three ports and five beaches facing the Atlantic Ocean, offering a privileged natural environment where sea, nature and history come together in harmony.
The municipality of Fouras-les-Bains and the Maison des Bateleurs – Solidarités Jeunesses association are renewing their partnership to continue passionately working on the restoration of this remarkable monument, in a spirit of solidarity, discovery and collective action.
You will work for eight 6-hour mornings on the restoration of a new section of the interior of La Redoute. Your task will be to remove vegetation from the façade and cornices so that the joints can be removed and then repointed with lime mortar. Other traditional masonry work, such as repairing the stone cornices and stone cutting, is also planned. In addition, you will take part in workshops to raise awareness of interculturality and sustainable development.

The association Plein la Bobine, established for over 20 years in La Bourboule, aims to organise an international film festival for young audiences at the end of the school year. It works to make this event a space dedicated to artistic awakening and curiosity, while also promoting arts and cultural education.
    https://pleinlabobine.com/association-a-lannee/

    Description of work:

For the tenth consecutive year, we are organising a volunteer work camp to support the festival’s organization. Volunteers will be immersed within the local volunteer teams and will take part in welcoming all participants — mainly children — and ensuring the smooth running of the festival. As a traveling festival, the first part will take place in Issoire from 25th to 30th May, and the second part in La Bourboule from 31st May to 8th June. This project is designed with a small group of volunteers in order to foster a genuine spirit of sharing and connection with the festival’s volunteer teams.
Before the festival: join in setting up the festival alongside other volunteers and discover the behind-the-scenes of organising such an event. During the festival: contribute actively to the festival's success by helping with public reception, managing entries, distributing flyers, guiding spectators, and providing occasional logistical support. After the festival: take part in the clean-up and evaluation of this edition. You will always be accompanied by French-speaking volunteers who will guide you and share their expertise. Take advantage of your free time to explore the cities of Issoire and La Bourboule, their natural landscapes, and the surrounding area! Some basic French skills are a plus, but not essential. If you're curious to discover a children's film festival rooted in its local community, don't hesitate—join the Plein la Bobine adventure!
