Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
MCE (Mongolian workCamps Exchange) was established on January 11th, 2001. It is an NGO/NPO to organize workcamps and other voluntary projects in Mongolia. Full member of NVDA (Network for Voluntary Development in Asia), Partner of SCI and contact of ALLIANCE. Through practical work projects, MCE hopes to encourage public awareness of Mongolia's social problems and promote local actions.
Description of work:
Organized together with NICE (Never-ending International workCamps Exchange) and supported by Greening Asia fund since 2002. The forest problem is serious in Mongolia. Before 1990, the forests covered 10% of the land, but only 7% today. It's caused by cutting trees without any control, forest fire, and global warming. May is the only season to plant trees in Mongolia.

Description of location and leisure:
Ulaanbaatar and Buhuugiin Hural (45 km from Ulaanbaatar). Half of the population in the country (3.2 million) live in the capital city. The temperature will be about 10-20°C, but weather can change a lot. Sunny, sometimes rainy, and windy.

GER (Mongolian traditional tent) or house. Very warm sleeping bag required! Cooked by volunteers. Shower is available all the time.
