Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
After a successful first 2 days English camp at the small rural School of Ban Khuan Mit in July 2025, we decided to renew the experience with bringing international volunteers for a full workcamp of 11 days. The English teacher Sakina, initiator of the project, is a former DaLaa international volunteer. She managed to involve Mr. Touchide Jutiprapak, the school director, the other teachers, and even a part of the local community of this remote area of South Thailand to welcome the volunteers and bring a wonderful experience to the students. The main focus is to provide an open window to the world through English language activities; the immersion in the community will be very present.
Description of work:
The main role of the volunteers is to conduct non-formal English classes and organize fun activities for students aged 7 to 15. Volunteers will work in groups of at least 2–3 per class, with around three classes each day. In addition, extra activities will be arranged for the students during their free time and/or in the evening.
Volunteers will also take part in community activities, such as sports competitions and potluck gatherings, which help strengthen relationships between the school, students, and local residents.
Description of location and leisure:
Ban Khuan Mit School is located in South Thailand, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, about 20 kilometers from the district town of Cha-uat. The school lies on a high plain with a hot and humid climate. The surrounding community is religiously diverse, with both Thai Buddhists and Thai Muslims living together peacefully. It is also situated close to a mountainous area with a big dam and a beautiful waterfall, at the border area of three provinces: Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, and Trang, near a local well-known rafting attraction. You are given 2 free day(s) during the 2 weeks, and plenty of free time in the evening that can be spent on daily meetings, or building group dynamic by playing various games, discussion. Personal expenditure on camp holiday is covered by volunteers themselves.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
As one of Thailand’s most significant World Heritage sites, Ayutthaya continues to reflect the dynamic interplay of cultural exchange, historical continuity, and riverine landscapes. In the context of ongoing socio-economic and environmental change, the relationship between the historic city and its waterways must be actively reinterpreted to support both heritage authenticity and long-term sustainability.
Under this theme, we continue to expand collaboration with partners, experts, and emerging networks to strengthen collective action in heritage protection and advocacy. Through these shared efforts, both tangible and intangible heritage are sustained, ensuring that interconnected stories, practices, and heritage ecosystems remain active and relevant within evolving cultural contexts.
Objectives
Expanding the Heritage Ecosystem Beyond Material Culture. Strengthening connections between Ayutthaya’s historic city and its surrounding riverine and rural communities by integrating cultural landscapes, local traditions, and ecological networks into a broader heritage ecosystem framework.
Enhancing World Heritage Management Skills. Equipping participants with practical knowledge to interpret and communicate the Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) of heritage sites, with a focus on the dynamic relationship between heritage and its wider setting.
Description of work:
World Heritage: Rivers as Cultural Corridors in
World Heritage-scapes

Hydrology and Heritage: Managing Water
Systems in Historic Cities

systems in historic cities, including flood control,
water storage, and irrigation, highlighting
sustainable management practices.
Integrated Riverine Heritage Conservation

oh Sukorn is a preserved island of Andaman Sea in South Thailand. During this work camp, we will have the chance to join hands with the community members to preserve the local agriculture while we can learn about their way of life. Moreover, we will be creating activities and games with children and young people to open their views and let them learn about international culture together with the volunteers. We will need your creativity and ideas of games and activities that will create a multi-cultural atmosphere for them.
Description of work:
•Replanting rice plants in flooded fields-
The rice (seeds) is first sowed. After a few weeks, the young seedlings are harvested in bunches. These are then separated into individual plants and replanted in the flooded rice fields in evenly spaced rows to allow the plant to grow to full size. This improves the yield of seeds the plants will produce.
