Work: Every year WF Iceland hosts hundreds of international volunteers participating in projects all around the island. WF Iceland publishes a magazine called UNA, where people can read about the life of the organisation http://wf.is/news/
In the beginning of the project, volunteers will receive an introduction about the tasks - afterwards we will choose a topic for the magazine. This is a great opportunity to get to know Reykjavik and the area around it in a different way. The group will take photos, create videos and conduct interviews with volunteers, local hosts and people living in the area. The outcome will be published in the UNA WF magazine.
The volunteers will also document the work of the association in all the camps running throughout the same period with a photo-reportage and they will publish it on WF social media such as Facebook and Instagram.
At the end of the project, we will prepare the final version of the magazine and publish it online.

    ● 위치

Project location: Reykjavik is a city full of energy, just waiting for you to experience it. Powered by heat from the earth below, with ever-changing weather sweeping across the landscape, its natural features are matched by the energy of its residents. Think of the denominators of a great city - fun, culture, nature, clean air - Reykjavik has them in spades. All the advantages of a modern, forward-looking society are complemented by the beautiful natural setting. In a country of only just over 330,000 people, the Reykjavik Capital Area has a population of about 200,000. However, since it’s the only major city in the country, Reykjavik has a lot of the amenities that you would only expect to find in a much larger center elsewhere in the world.

Reykjavik is the world’s northernmost capital city and is centred on the Seltjarnarnes Peninsula. Come at the right time of year, and in favourable conditions you will see the city’s skyline silhouetted against the glowing, shimmering curtain of the aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights. Reykjavik is framed by the majestic Mt. Esja and the blue waters of Faxafloi Bay to the north, while rugged lava-fields spread to the southeast. On a clear sunny day, the Snaefellsjökull glacier glitters on the western horizon like a crystal.

Terminal: Flights arrive at Keflavik International Airport (KEF), just south of Reykjavik. The meeting point is at 08.30 am at the first day of the camp in Tjarnargata 11 which is the city hall of Reykjavik

    ● 숙박

Accommodation and food: Worldwide Friends volunteers will be staying in our house in Sveinsstadir, which is located on the outskirts of Reykjavik. This place is like a farm in the city, so you can enjoy pure nature and the city life of the capital at the same time. Volunteers need to bring their own sleeping bags and towels, but beds/mattresses and bed sheets are provided. Wireless internet access is provided free of charge.

Food is included for the duration of the workcamp, however, everyone is expected to do their fair share of the cooking and cleaning. Since it is always nice to try new and different dishes, volunteers are encouraged to bring along their favourite recipes (and spices) from home!

    Description of work:

After the success last year, SEEDS will again organise intensely yoga related projects. Inspired by our successful photo marathons, we introduced yoga camps in the summer of 2018. Expect a mixture of workcamp and yoga retreat with the focus on yoga. SEEDS will work together with yogias, a senior yoga teacher from Amsterdam and former SEEDS international workcamps leader in 2010.
Participants will live together in the centre of Reykjavík. We will create our space for yoga practise in the same house. Be ready for daily vinyasa style flow yoga classes as well as restorative yoga and meditation sessions amongst other yogic activities and surprises. We will establish a daily practise in a gentle and regular schedule. There will be lots of opportunity for karma yoga, conversation and compassion. We will also have enough free time to explore the city and to dive into the local swimming pool.
Make sure to bring your own yoga mat, clothes and maybe block and belt, if needed for your practise. A blanket and cushion would come in handy too. There will be no extra mats or props available. Maybe you’d also like to have a dear object or picture with you for your personal focus. You should bring along an affinity for yoga with motivation to practise daily for the time of the camp, but an experienced level of practise is not required.
Please note this project is more of a learning/sharing camp and not a regular workcamp; we may be able to organize some voluntary work on a couple of afternoons but it depends on our partners and the weather. This camp is open for participants from the age of 18 years old. SEEDS organises a programme that combines learning, sharing, getting to know Iceland, its culture, having fun, as well as exploring the capital city and some stunning nature attractions in the excursions or other destinations, which will be part of the camp.

    ● 위치

The place where the project/workcamp will take place: Reykjavik

The nearest airport: KEF in Reykjavik,Iceland
The nearest terminal (train-, bus-, taxi station): Closest international Airport: Keflavík/Reykjavík (KEF). Bus station: Central Reykjavík (BSÍ).

Meeting Point and Time: Meeting time will be at 18:00 (6:00 pm) on June 19 at SEEDS Office in Reykjavík. Participants that cannot arrive on time (later or delayed flights) will be sent information on how to reach the camp.

    ● 숙박

SEEDS participants will stay in a house in Reykjavík. The accommodation is basic or in this case, better said ashram style. Rooms will be shared for the night and we will prepare our meals in turns. As it is the nature of voluntary multicultural camps. The facilities are basic with a shower, washing machine, kitchen and everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. We will sleep in shared rooms in a sleeping bag accommodation. Please bring your own sleeping bag.
We will receive food supplies and be in charge of the cooking and cleaning activities. Do not forget traditional or typical vegetarian food, non-alcoholic drinks, music and recipes from your country for the international evening. Please consider only vegetarian foods, for we will keep a strict vegetarian diet in this camp.

Work: This camp has different kind of tasks. Some days we will focus on renovation, painting, cleaning and fixing things around the WF house. The house is around 450 m2 and through the years the volunteers have been making beautiful drawings and paintings on the wall of the house. We will continue with that art work and also we will make sculptures but otherdays we will clean the coastline in the north near to the arctic circle.
Raufarhofn is in a rural area and very magical and full of energy and amazing landscapes. This is the right place to enjoy your free time taking photos and having walks around the coast line. For sure the inhabitants from the village will very interesting to get to know you and take part in some of our cultural dinners or even workshops which we can develop if volunteers are happy and dynamic enough.

We will work about 6 hours a day in order to make our house in the North a much better place to This is the right place to enjoy your free time taking photos and having walks around the coast line.

This work camp is a way to enjoy an amazing time in Iceland with other international volunteers and to have an incredible experience where participants share their knowledge with each other while they are exploring creativity, environmental issues and intercultural learning.

There are also few other easy things to do in leisure time in Raufarhofn. There you can walk (about 18 km go and back) to the light house which is the most North Eastern point of Iceland. The line of the Arctic Circle frame that area of Iceland closing the water of Atlantic Ocean and opening the gates to the Greenlandic Sea.
Another positive thing about Raufarhofn especially if you like birds is that the village becomes a migrant birds nest giving so much life to the place.
Raufarhofn is the Icelandic tundra, full of black and blue berries during the season. If you are volunteering while the berries season is taking place you will have the opportunity to make your own jam, brownies, cake and other delicious meals based on wild berries. Also, the tundra area is full of lakes where fishing is easy to do and free as well. We will have some small fishing equipment to try to get some fresh catch of the day. :)

    ● 위치

Project Location: The village of Raufarhöfn is the community that lies farthest north in Iceland. It is located in the eastern part of Melrakkasletta close to the Arctic Circle. The population of Raufarhöfn is about 200 and most of the people there earn their living from fishing and fish processing. The harbor is very beautiful and partly shaped by nature itself. A wide and untouched open area surrounds the village with a lot of birds and varied vegetation. In summer one will observe wild migratory birds within the village being a part of the village life with the villagers most often waking up in the morning to the songs of birds. The coastline with its inlets and creeks is filled with driftwood and reaches out into the Arctic Sea. Away and on the surface of the sea various sea-birds will be spotted and an occasional seal. On the beach waders strut and inland on the grassy moorlands there are dozens of lakes filled with trout. In the vicinity many species of ducks, waders and species that favor heaths and moorlands may be observed.

Terminal: Intl. Airport: Keflavík (KEF), Reykjavík.
Flights arrive at Keflavik International Airport (KEF), just south of Reykjavik. The meeting point is at 08.30 am at the first day of the camp in Tjarnargata 11 which is the city hall of Reykjavik

Leisure: WF Iceland will organise reasonably-priced weekend excursions to some of the most popular, beautiful areas and natural wonders that Iceland has to offer. Excursions include unique Icelandic sights, such as waterfalls, volcanic and geothermal areas, glaciers, lava forests, hot-springs, rhyolite mountain ranges, steam-vents or even icebergs.

We will also concentrate on intercultural learning and exchange. Every evening, volunteers from different countries will be in charge of presenting their country of origin and culture in an informal way. It can be a presentation, a game, theatre – the form of introduction is up to you! Therefore, we encourage you to bring along some food, photos or anything interesting related to your country for a fun and informative evening amongst other volunteers.

This workcamp gives you the opportunity to spend an amazing time in Iceland with other international volunteers and to have an incredible experience where participants share their knowledge with each other while exploring creativity, environmental issues and intercultural learning.

    ● 숙박

Worldwide Friends volunteers stay in the Worldwide Friends house offering basic facilities. Beds are provided, however volunteers should bring their own warm sleeping bags.
Food is included for the duration of the workcamp, however everyone is expected to do their fair share of the cooking and cleaning. Since it is always nice to try new and different dishes, volunteers are encouraged to bring along their favorite recipes from home!

This work camp is a way to enjoy an amazing time in Iceland with other international volunteers and to have an incredible experience where participants share their knowledge with each other while they are exploring creativity, environmental issues and intercultural learning.

Food is included for the duration of the workcamp, however everyone is expected to do their fair share of the cooking and cleaning. Since it is always nice to try new and different dishes, volunteers are encouraged to bring along their favorite recipes from home!
