Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
During this camp, participants can share their love for (and learn more about) global & local environmental issues, as well as photography. If you are interested in topics such as climate change, waste management, animal protection and sustainability, and you also love taking photographs or want to develop your photography skills, then this project is for you!
While developing artistic and technical photography skills, you will be focusing on environmental and sustainability issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits facilitated by SEEDS. One of our aims is to help create more environmentally aware consumers & travellers!
You will visit local projects on environment and conservation. These may include hands-on activities or guided visits. Some examples include outdoor cleanup tasks, a geothermal power plant, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an outdoor Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on conditions such as weather, as well as availability or restrictions of our partner organisations.
You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice, walking around and exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS' social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.

Participants should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and should be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium distances during activities and sightseeing.
Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. This project has a smaller volunteer work part and puts a bigger emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact.
One of the two options below is also included in this camp as a hands-on volunteering activity day:
1. A day trip to the Hot River area, combined with a cleanup or work with an environmental project in the area, or
2. A day trip to the Reykjanes peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area.

Reykjavík is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic. It is an international city with a lively cosmopolitan cultural scene surrounded by beautiful nature.

The nearest terminal (train-, bus-, taxi station): Closest international Airport: Keflavík/Reykjavík (KEF). Bus station: Central Reykjavík (BSÍ)
Meeting Point and Time: Meeting time will be 18:00 (6:00 pm) on May 5 at SEEDS’ office in Reykjavík. Participants that cannot arrive on time (later or delayed flights) will be sent information on how to reach the camp on their own.
Description of accommodation and food:
SEEDS participants will stay in a house in Reykjavík. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, showers, and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Participants will sleep in shared rooms or dormitories. Please bring your own sleeping bag.
Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

1)아이슬란드 항공권 & 미니버스
아이슬란드 수도(Reykjavik) 이외의 지역에서 개최되는 워크캠프의 경우 캠프 기간 전후로 최소 하루의 여유를 두고 항공권을 준비하시기 바랍니다.
아울러 아이슬란드는 대중교통이 발달되어 있지 않아 아이슬란드 기관에서는 수도 이외의 지역에서 개최되는 워크캠프의 참가자에게는 저렴한 가격의 교통수단(미니버스)를 제공하고 있습니다. 참가자들과 미팅포인트에서 만나 함께 캠프 개최지까지 미니버스로 이동하며, 미니버스 관련 내용은 합격 후 인포싯(infosheet)을 통해 안내 드립니다.
2)자유시간
아이슬란드 워크캠프는 다른 국가의 워크캠프에 비해 참가자들의 자유시간이 많은 편입니다. 자유시간은 캠프 리더와 참가자 간의 상의 하에 결정(문화 교류, 근교 여행, 휴식 등)될 수 있습니다.
3)방한복 구비
아이슬란드는 비바람이 잦고 한 여름을 제외하고는 날씨가 매우 춥습니다. 따라서 방한복 및 방수복을 준비해 가시고, 여름에도 긴 소매의 옷을 가져가시는 것이 좋습니다.

The fee includes transportation from the meeting point to the camp (on the first day and one trip combined with the trash collection activity (Hot River or Reykjanes). Meeting time will be 18:00 (6:00 pm) on May 5 at SEEDS’ office in Reykjavík. Participants that cannot arrive on time (later or delayed flights) will be sent information on how to reach the camp on their own. Some excursions (e.g. to the Golden Circle and/or South Shore) can be arranged at discount fares if there is free time after the camp workshops/sessions. Weather may be cold or rainy, so we recommend bringing warm and/or waterproof clothes) and good walking shoes, as some of the activities take place outdoors.

This year and all the changes connected to COVID 19 have posed new challenges to all of us. Many workcamps had to be cancelled, volunteers who were excited to work in an intercultural group in a foreign country could not make it to their camps and many of us were forced to stay in their own four walls for months.
However, not only bad things came out of this. During lockdown we started to host our first virtual camps and learnt that online meetings are a great way of connecting with people all across the world and promoting our ideals and environmental awareness, even without meeting physically. This is something we want to keep doing now that things are slowly going back to normal. So join us in this virtual camp to volunteer and learn in a different way!
What will we be working on together? SEEDS camp leaders will be creating opportunities for you to focus on different current environmental and sustainability issues through a selection of workshops and activities online. One of our aims is to help create more environmentally aware consumers & travellers. During this camp participants can share their love for (and learn more about) global & local environmental topics such as: climate change, waste management, sustainable solutions & other environmental topics. There will be two to three different sessions each day. Participants are also encouraged to join the weekly challenge that will be published on the SEEDS Instagram channel. The sessions we offer include:
- Plant-based Cooking & Baking Classes - These classes will provide you with an insight into plant based diet and food, with recipes, and tips and tricks to cook and bake. Every other day, for one
hour, we will prepare a dish (main course or a dessert). You can then share your final creations through photos.
- Fun Environmental Quiz - Our leaders will post a question about environmental topics twice a week
and then it will be up to you to research to find an answer. The answers will be posted the next morning.
- Eco Friendly Cleaning Products Tips - Every other day, for 30 minutes, we will share cleaning tips, facts about ingredients, and Do It Yourself ideas. You will learn how to avoid harmful chemicals, how to read labels when you are shopping, and how to use simple ingredients as cleaning alternatives.
- DIY Selfcare Products Workshop - Every other day, for one hour we will teach you how to DIY your own natural cosmetic and personal hygiene products with ingredients that you can probably find at home! - Conscious Consumerism Workshop - Every other day, we will have one hour workshops where we will address three areas in our daily lives where we can take measures to reduce our environmental footprint. Participants will work in teams and present their ideas to the group. Over the course of the camp, each participant is encouraged to try at least one of the ideas at home and share a video or picture of the new habit with the group. At the same time, all will research the environmental policies of a preferred brand, and try to look for more sustainable alternatives, sharing their findings with the others.
Note that this project is a learning/sharing camp, so we encourage everyone to share their knowledge and participate actively in this learning process. And of course, this is a great way to meet new people from all over the world, so you can exchange ideas, experiences, language, music, recipes and much more with the other online volunteers, just as in a real workcamp. Bring your own ideas and let’s be creative together!
This camp takes place online. It is accessible to everybody with a working internet connection. No borders, no visa, no need to travel, so you are saving CO2-emissions which is really nice for our beautiful planet! While it is important to keep physical distance at the moment, we can create social proximity in the digital world.
We believe that especially in times as challenging as these, it is important to raise our voices for solidarity and international friendship. International workcamps were created 100 years ago to work towards mutual understanding, peace and solidarity beyond borders.
Your own home! It might not be a brand new experience, but hey, you might be missing out on sharing a room with the whole workcamp group or having to make a schedule for the showers. Is that really so bad...? Plus, in our virtual camp, you might have a chance to see how different homes all over the world look!

This will take place during late evening and possibly into the night. Northern lights are a natural phenomenon depending on solar activity and meteorological conditions; we cannot guarantee you will see northern lights, but the night photography workshop will be organised anyway.

During this camp, participants can share their love for (and learn more about) global & local environmental issues, as well as photography. If you are interested in topics such as climate change, waste management, animal protection and sustainability, and you also love taking photographs or want to develop your photography skills, then this project is for you!
While developing artistic and technical photography skills, you will be focusing on environmental and sustainability issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits facilitated by SEEDS. One of our aims is to help create more environmentally aware consumers & travellers!
You will visit local projects on environment and conservation. These may include hands-on activities or guided visits. Some examples include outdoor cleanup tasks, a geothermal power plant, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an outdoor Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on conditions such as weather, as well as availability or restrictions of our partner organisations.
You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice, walking around and exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS' social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.

This will take place during late evening and possibly into the night. Northern lights are a natural phenomenon depending on solar activity and meteorological conditions; we cannot guarantee you will see northern lights, but the night photography workshop will be organised anyway.

SEEDS participants will stay in a house in Reykjavík. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, showers, and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Participants will sleep in shared rooms or dormitories. Please bring your own sleeping bag.
Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

Meeting Point and Time: Meeting time will be 18:00 (6:00 pm) on March 6 at SEEDS’ office in Reykjavík. Participants that cannot arrive on time (later or delayed flights) will be sent information on how to reach the camp on their own.
Description of accommodation and food:
SEEDS participants will stay in a house in Reykjavík. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, showers, and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Participants will sleep in shared rooms or dormitories. Please bring your own sleeping bag.
Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

[아이슬란드 워크캠프 특징]
1)아이슬란드 항공권 & 미니버스
아이슬란드 수도(Reykjavik) 이외의 지역에서 개최되는 워크캠프의 경우 캠프 기간 전후로 최소 하루의 여유를 두고 항공권을 준비하시기 바랍니다.
아울러 아이슬란드는 대중교통이 발달되어 있지 않아 아이슬란드 기관에서는 수도 이외의 지역에서 개최되는 워크캠프의 참가자에게는 저렴한 가격의 교통수단(미니버스)를 제공하고 있습니다. 참가자들과 미팅포인트에서 만나 함께 캠프 개최지까지 미니버스로 이동하며, 미니버스 관련 내용은 합격 후 인포싯(infosheet)을 통해 안내 드립니다.
2)자유시간
아이슬란드 워크캠프는 다른 국가의 워크캠프에 비해 참가자들의 자유시간이 많은 편입니다. 자유시간은 캠프 리더와 참가자 간의 상의 하에 결정(문화 교류, 근교 여행, 휴식 등)될 수 있습니다.
3)방한복 구비
아이슬란드는 비바람이 잦고 한 여름을 제외하고는 날씨가 매우 춥습니다. 따라서 방한복 및 방수복을 준비해 가시고, 여름에도 긴 소매의 옷을 가져가시는 것이 좋습니다.
