    Description of the Project
Climate change is one of the most general threats to peace and security worldwide at the least at this moment. However it has been obvious that not many people would list this as a key factor in international relations and domestic welfare. Climate change touches all areas of security, peace building, and sustainable development. The impacts of climate change are already adversely affecting vulnerable communities, as well as stretching the capacities of societies and Governments. Climate change is best understood as a ‘threat multiplier’, i.e. something that interacts with existing pressures (such as social conflict, economic inequality, large-scale migration, or competition for resources) and further compounds these issues—increasing the likelihood of instability or violent conflict. Peace & Climate change project is aiming to increase awareness and make contribution to the projects that support environmental sustainability.

    Project Activities
Volunteers are expected to participate in the following outlined activities for the duration of this project:-
    • Mangrove trees planting: Mangroves protect shorelines from damaging storm and hurricane winds, waves, and floods. Mangroves also help prevent erosion by stabilizing sediments with their tangled root systems. They maintain water quality and clarity, filtering pollutants and trapping sediments originating from land. Despite these benefits there has been destruction of mangrove forests and harvesting practices which are not sustainable.

    • Environmental cleaning and waste management: Participating in community clean ups events and managing the waste in the community. This will be developing waste sites and demonstration on how to separate garbage.
    • Environmental education: Sensitization of environment care as a means of maintaining peace and security. This will be done through creative means including sports, arts, music and exhibitions.
