Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
Since 1990, NiG has been bringing together socially engaged youth and dedicated volunteers to organize and run international work camps in Germany, as well as multilateral youth exchanges both at home and abroad. As part of a global network, we also connect young people with meaningful projects through our partner organizations worldwide.
Over the years, thousands of participants from 42 countries have collaborated on impactful initiatives. With more than 800 work camps completed, we continue to create opportunities for cultural exchange, learning, and social engagement.
In our multi-week camps, volunteers contribute to essential and much-needed projects in various fields, including:
> Environmental conservation and sustainability
> Working with children and youth
> Arts and culture
> Preservation of historical landmarks
Description of work:
This workcamp is perfect for nature lovers, as the work takes place outdoors in the Upahl-Lenzen Nature Reserve. Volunteers will maintain the area by mowing meadows and clearing the grass—all by hand, as traditional farming techniques cannot be used. The project aims to preserve the nature reserve and is carried out in cooperation with the environmental agency of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Short remarks for the project:
BE CAREFUL! There are two different villages called "Lohmen" in Germany. The workcamp will be in that Lohmen between Guestrow and Goldberg in the region Mecklenburg Western Pomerania.
Volunteers will do an unforgettable theatre-project, where they have the chance to be another person on stage. The volunteers have the opportunity, to evolve a little scene, etude or even a play. Theatre is always a very interesting exercise to get to know yourself better or even to discover yourself in another way.
Excursions (swimming, short trips) can be planned by the volunteers.
The Hanseatic city of Rostock was founded in the 13th century and is with over 200.000 residents the largest city in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Those location factors make up a great way of living in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the university with its 9 faculties and many study courses only adds to Rostock‘s amenity. Rostock is the place to be – and the volunteers will, among other things, encounter several buildings of historical and cultural value. Also, there are a lot of opportunities for free time activities: You can go swimming in the Baltic Sea, go canoeing, play various out- and indoor sports and spend a chill day in the shopping area of the Kröpeliner Straße – a long street that connects the city hall with one of the city gates that were built in the Middle Ages and remained until today.
The nearest airport: SXF in ,
The nearest terminal (train-, bus-, taxi station): Rostock Hbf
Meeting Point and Time: Will be sent to the volunteers together with the detailed travel information.
The volunteers will stay in an accommodation of our partners. It's like a flat.

This work camp is for nature lovers, since the work will be mainly outdoors. The volunteers will work in a nature park on the island “Usedom” located in the Baltic Sea. Typical for the region are salt and orchid meadows. There is a lot of work around the natural reserve. Since it’s not possible to use common agriculture techniques, volunteers have to do everything manually. More over every meadow around has to be cut and the grass has to be put aside. The aim of this project is to help to protect this unique reserve through your contribution.
Peenemuende is located in the northern part of the island Usedom. Between 1936 and 1989 the region was restricted (for army use only), therefore the nature in the surroundings has developed undisturbed. Looking back in history of Peenemuende participated in the development of the Vrockets and today is a memorial as well as a technical historical information centre reminding us of it.

Work :The aim is to have young people actively involved with culture. After an introduction in detail the first days will be focused on the Victorian-Arts-Festival, a festival based on the Steampunk movement (literally a victorian-style, sci-fi fashion and literature-based new scene). We need helping hands to prepare the house and the garden for the festival. The main tasks will be spring-cleaning and decorating. During the festival, which takes place from the 17th to the 18th of June, the volunteers may take part in the cultural program (decorating, helping hands, maybe performing).
The program of the festival consists of various concerts, workshops and readings. The time between the next festival a weekend later the participants will work in the manor. They will help with the necessary tasks that have to be done – like helping in the garden or maybe painting. The exact tasks that will be undertaken will vary and volunteers are expected to be flexible in the work they do and be prepared to participate in all of the tasks fully. The last weekend we will focus on a general castle night (Midsummer Remise), organized by the owner of the castle and his agency including 80 manors (as a warm-up).
Vogelsang
The manor Vogelsang is located in between the nature parks “Mecklenburger-Schweiz” and “Kummerrower See”, in the heart of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania - the north-eastern part of Germany. It had been built in 1849 but is in bad but still very romantic shape amidst an old english-styled park. Since the end of 2010 the building has a new owner, who tries his best to renovate the location in a neogothic style. With the help of creative hands, a lot of effort and a big amount of love the land marked house shall become a place of rest. Website: http://www.herrenhaus-vogelsang.de
Nearest airports : Berlin or Hamburg
Nearest train station : Lalendorf
The volunteers will stay in an apartment in the stables next to the mansion Vogelsang
Food is already included but the volunteers will be responsible for the cooking.
