Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
During this camp, participants can share their passion for (and learn more about) global & local environmental issues, as well as photography. If you are interested in topics such as climate change, waste management and sustainability, and you also love taking photos, then this project is for you!
While developing artistic and technical photography skills, you will be focusing on environmental and sustainability issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits facilitated by SEEDS. One of our aims is to help create more environmentally aware consumers & travellers!
Description of work:
You will visit local projects on environment and conservation. These may include hands-on activities or guided visits, such as outdoor cleanup tasks, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on weather conditions, as on the availability of our partners.
You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice while exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS' social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.
The SEEDS’ programme combines learning, sharing, hands-on activities, getting to know Iceland, its culture, having fun, exploring the city, its attractions and the stunning nature, which you can experience in possible excursions. Participants should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium distances (up to 1,5 hours) during activities and sightseeing. Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. This project has a smaller volunteer work part and puts a bigger emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact.
SEEDS will organise a night photography and aurora hunting workshop in the city or in the vicinity of Reykjavík. Northern lights are a natural phenomenon depending on solar activity and meteorological conditions, so we cannot guarantee you will see northern lights, but the night photography workshop will be organised anyway.
During the time of the camp, Iceland Airwaves, an annual music festival, is hosted in Reykjavik. There are performances from established and new artists in a host of different venues around the city. SEEDS does not provide passes for the festival, however there are a lot of free off-venue events all around town to attend.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
After a successful first 2 days English camp at the small rural School of Ban Khuan Mit in July 2025, we decided to renew the experience with bringing international volunteers for a full workcamp of 11 days. The English teacher Sakina, initiator of the project, is a former DaLaa international volunteer. She managed to involve Mr. Touchide Jutiprapak, the school director, the other teachers, and even a part of the local community of this remote area of South Thailand to welcome the volunteers and bring a wonderful experience to the students. The main focus is to provide an open window to the world through English language activities; the immersion in the community will be very present.
Description of work:
The main role of the volunteers is to conduct non-formal English classes and organize fun activities for students aged 7 to 15. Volunteers will work in groups of at least 2–3 per class, with around three classes each day. In addition, extra activities will be arranged for the students during their free time and/or in the evening.
Volunteers will also take part in community activities, such as sports competitions and potluck gatherings, which help strengthen relationships between the school, students, and local residents.
Description of location and leisure:
Ban Khuan Mit School is located in South Thailand, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, about 20 kilometers from the district town of Cha-uat. The school lies on a high plain with a hot and humid climate. The surrounding community is religiously diverse, with both Thai Buddhists and Thai Muslims living together peacefully. It is also situated close to a mountainous area with a big dam and a beautiful waterfall, at the border area of three provinces: Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, and Trang, near a local well-known rafting attraction. You are given 2 free day(s) during the 2 weeks, and plenty of free time in the evening that can be spent on daily meetings, or building group dynamic by playing various games, discussion. Personal expenditure on camp holiday is covered by volunteers themselves.
