Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
The Cultural Organisation of Tipula pursues to provide the residences for artists from various fields and develop the activity based on the needs of the creative work. They also organize concerts, camps and events in Tipula. The organization upkeeps an old garden of self-grown and locally produced food, surrounded by forests, old farmland and wheatfields. Their goal is to reach out to create international bonds, to enhance ecological values and sustainable, environmentally friendly way of life.This camp is a part of the project European Youth in Action: policymakers for climate justice, supported by the CERV programme, improving competences in concrete actions for climate justice. The horizontal theme of this camp is energy transition.
Description of work:
The volunteers will be renovating and painting the buildings in Tipula, gardening and removing invasive species in the Laitila area. There will also be some tasks related to cleaning up and organizing the historic WALO house. The volunteers will get to know the sustainable way of living and learn more about the themes of the camp through workshops and activities.
LAITILA
Description of location and leisure:
Tipula is a small village, surrounded by forests and farm land. The nearest cities are Laitila, Rauma and Turku. The west coast of Finland is the oldest part of the country. There are many historical towns for the volunteers to visit, as well as beautiful nature to explore. There is a public beach nearby and beautiful nature for hiking and walking.
The accommodation will be organized in rooms of 2-4 people. There will be a shared sauna, a shower and a toilet. The volunteers will cook their meals in small teams with ingredients provided by the host, also some from the own garden of Tipula. The food will be mostly plant based.

The volunteers need travel insurance for the duration of their stay. The camp is not suitable for volunteers with allergy to animals as there are cats and dogs in the camp area. The EYA project is primarily targeted to European volunteers. Volunteers traveling by land (bus or train) for most of their journey will be eligible for a travel grant up to 100euro.
Laitila is 3,5 hours from Helsinki and 1hour from Turku by bus. The closest airports are Helsinki-Vantaa and Turku. You can also arrive in Helsinki or Turku by ferry.

The organization upkeeps an old garden of self-grown and near-by produced food, surrounded by forests, old farmland and wheatfields. Their goal is to reach out to create international bonds, to enhance ecological values and sustainable, environmentally friendly way of life. This camp is a part of the project European Youth in Action: policymakers for climate justice, supported by the CERV programme, improving competences in concrete actions for climate justice. The horizontal theme of this camp is sustainability, greenwashing and circular economy.
Description of work:
During the first week of the camp the volunteers will do gardening work and prepare for the Open Gardens -event. During the second week the participants will renovate and paint old barn doors. The volunteers will get to know the sustainable way of living of the host organisation and learn more about the themes of the camp through tasks and activities.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
This camp is organized together by the Municipality of Poytya and local 4H-club. The local organisations have again joined forces to organise an international work camp in order to give local youth international experiences. The host organisation also runs a Nature Cabinet which runs nature related exhibitions.
Description of work:
The theme of the camp is nature and youth in the countryside and the volunteers will get many opportunities for intercultural encounters. Volunteers should be prepared to present their own country and its culture to local children and youth during visits to local school and youth houses, or when organisizing an international evening events for the young people. The volunteers will get a chance to get to know the local nature through tidying surroundings.
Description of location and leisure:
Ylane is a small village surrounded by lakes and forests in Western Finland, about 190 km from Helsinki. The nearest city is Turku which is about 55 km away. During free time volunteers can participate in various activities such as sauna, swimming, canoeing, berry picking and fishing. There are national parks nearby so the area provides excellent hiking possibilities. To reach the camp the volunteers can arrive in Helsinki airport and then by bus or train to Turku. From Turku there are few buses to Ylane daily.

Description of accommodation and food:
Modest hostel style accommodation with a large common space, own sleeping bags needed. Showers in a separate building. Volunteers will prepare meals together in small teams.

The host organization Ikko is a modern, non-political and non-religious folk high school offering both general and vocational education for Finnish and international students and groups throughout the year. They also host special target groups such as students with special needs as well as young asylum seekers.
The school surroundings need maintaining so the volunteers will work with seasonal tasks indoors and outdoors. Please note that this is not a traditional work camp and the tasks vary by the season. The topic of this work camp is climate change and sustainability. We will share our concerns about climate change, live sustainably and try to figure out together how to tackle this topic on personal level and universally, too.If you wish to reduce your carbon footprint before arriving to the camp please find about if you have other options instead of flying.
Punkaharju is located in eastern Finland near Savonlinna and it takes about four hours by train from Helsinki. The school is situated in a location of natural beauty, right on Punkaharju ridge. It is surrounded on both sides by lakes and magnificent scenery. The area offers opportunities for outdoor activities. The volunteers can join Finnish language and culture lessons.
Accommodation will be in dormitory, meals provided. There are possibilities for various creative and other activities. Sauna and swimming facilities are also available.
