Project: The project is organised in cooperation with the Broumov Foundation, which focuses its
resources on the cultural development of the city and the whole microregion. The goal of this
workcamp is to strengthen connections between the local community and volunteers from around
the world creating a space for cultural exchange, building interpersonal relationships, and mutual
inspiration through work, events, excursions and workshops. Broumov is also a candidate for the
European Capital of Culture for the year 2028, and this project is an indivisible part of its success. At
this project, you are actively contributing to the achievement of United Nation Sustainable
Development Goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Work: Volunteers will be involved in various activities throughout the week culminating in concerts
and a fashion show on June 28th. Their tasks include cleaning public spaces, assisting with a pilgrim
walk and workshop at Fewet Farm, supporting a record attempt for the most people wearing skirts in
the town square, and helping with event setup, ticket control, and visitor guidance. Throughout the
week, they will contribute to the smooth execution of events while fostering connections between
local students and international volunteers. The overall physical demand will be similar to standard
outdoor activities, such as carrying small or moderately heavy objects, walking longer distances, and
cleaning public spaces. The work is suitable for individuals with average physical fitness. Regardless
of the weather the main event will take place so a rain coat is required.
Study part: Educational activities will connect volunteers with local traditions, culture, and
environmental topics. They will visit Fewet Farm to learn about regional products, meet local
animals, and join a waste recycling workshop. A lecture on Broumov’s history and its monastery will
highlight its cultural and spiritual significance. A community event workshop will cover planning,
fundraising, and public relations. An environmental workshop, linked to the city cleanup, will focus
on waste management and nature conservation. These activities will be both educational and
interactive, fostering cultural exchange and community engagement.
Possible free time activities: In our free time volunteers can primarily do outdoor activities.
Volunteers can make a trip to the rocks nearby, which are national natural reserves. The local
monastery also hosts collective meditations each Tuesday morning. On the 25th of June, there is a
meeting with the community and an option to attend the ‘Experience Brewery Differently’ event.
June also hosts a variety of other cultural events which you can join
Location of the project: The project will take place in the medieval town of Broumov, which is
surrounded by walls from medieval times and known for its baroque features. The town has a
population of approximately 7500 residents and is located on the border with Poland in the Northern
part of the Czech Republic. Nearby, you will find ATMs, stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, an info
centre, a cinema, a theatre, and touristic paths.
Direction to the meeting point: Timetables may change for summer. We will provide more transport
details in infoheet later. Feel free to use our application IDOS for all kind of transport around Czech
Republic (buses, trains, public city transport). To have a general knowledge how to ge to the meeting
point: From Prague to Broumov (district Náchod): journey takes 4hours. There are a direct busses or
trains (one change).
Address: Klášterní 1, Broumov 5500
Accommodation/Food: Volunteers will be accommodated in a guest house of the monastery, where
participants will sleep in one big room with the rest of their peers. There is access to shared
bathrooms and toilets. Bed sheets are included as well as free WiFi. There is no washing machine.
Accommodation in the Broumov monastery is a great experience - you can experience how
Benedictine monks used to live but you have to respect quiet hours after 10 PM. Volunteers will
cook their own meals using a fully equipped kitchen.

Description of work:
This year we will organise the fourteenth workcamp in Allegre, in the heart of this beautiful historic village!
Every summer, international volunteers take it in turns to renovate pavements of alleyways in the village, and to create an ecological medieval garden. This year, the town council proposes to continue the development of an ecological medieval garden by building a pergola. The garden is ideally situated at the foot of the village ramparts, high up, with a beautiful point of view. What is a medieval garden? It is an enclosed, secret, quiet garden, ideal for meditation. It is made up of several areas: a vegetable garden, an orchard and the corner of medicinal and magical herbs called "carre des simples".
You'll spend about 30 hours a week on this site. Your tasks: build a pergola in the heart of the medieval garden, which will then be planted with greenery. Would you like to find out more about carpentry and woodworking? Come and learn how to handle a wide range of tools under the guidance of a technical animator. It will be a very enriching experience!
Description of location and leisure:

Project and Work:
This year we will organize the fourteenth workcamp in Allegre, in the heart of this beautiful historic village!
For twelve years, international volunteers have taken turns every summer to renovate pavements of alleyways in the village. This year, the town council offers to continue the development of an ecological medieval garden, which was created last summer during a workcamp. This field is ideally situated at the foot of outer walls, high up, with a beautiful point of view. What is a medieval garden? It is an enclosed, secret, quiet garden, ideal for meditation. It is made up of several areas: a vegetable garden, an orchard and the corner of medicinal and magical herbs called "carre des simples".
You'll spend about 30 hours a week on this site. Your tasks: manual earthwork to make the garden flat, construction of a cover which will later be planted, repairing a well and making large square wooden planters. You will then fill them using a permaculture technique of lasagna cultivation. The tasks will be varied and you will learn to handle many tools alongside a technical animator. It will be a very enriching experience!
Partner:
Allegre has a very rich historical heritage. It is located at an altitude of 1,000 meters, where the remains of a classified castle overlook the village. The town was selected as part of the "Small town of tomorrow" scheme, which enables it to carry out actions to improve the living environment and ecology. It is in this context that the project to create a medieval garden was born.

Project:
Do you enjoy nature, forests, environmental protection, art, construction, meditation and several summer activities in a really alternative setting? Then this camp in the Greentown Atelier is exactly the right one for you! Greentown is a mini-village and work of art made from recycled materials and containers - built in 2019 by the Dutch artist Dirk Krechting, it is a place that can be expanded upon as a dynamic living sculpture.
During this camp, you will not only get to know the wooded area of Eichenbrandt with its forest lakes and hiking trails, but you will also actively and creatively work on the further development and design of the Greentown Atelier.
We will be also offering you various artistic workshops on woodworking and painting, as well as forest educational activities.
The time spent with your "colleagues from all over the world" is guaranteed to be an unforgettable experience, full of experiences and sustainable (self-) insights, strategies and techniques which - besides being a lot of fun - can be very valuable for your future life.
The current concrete tasks we have planned are: improving the atelier itself (timber construction, painting, mosaics etc.), building self-designed furniture and the construction a fence made of recycled and upcycled materials to be decorated with climbing plants. All the work you will be doing will be under the professional guidance of Dirk Krechting, along with other helpers and experts, including a Greenpeace activist!
Using Greentown as an example, we are also keen to talk about personal strategies for an alternative way of living, and to both discuss and try out things we can implement as individuals and as a group. In our workshops you will learn a variety of artistic, professional and spiritual techniques and strategies for alternative and sustainable ways of living.
If you want to lean more about Greentown, you can visit the following website: www.ateliergreentown.de
Free Time: There will be enough time for you to both enjoy the summer and to let the calmness and the unique magic of nature to have an effect on us. Swimming, walking and other trips to places like Berlin are all part of the programme. Those of you who enjoy sports can also try trail running. Greetown Atelier, with its large wild garden, also offers the possibility of camping, building a campfire, having a barbecue or experimenting with building materials and/or water.
The Greentown Atelier is located in East Brandenburg, surrounded by meadows and forests, around 5km away from Strausberg and around 34km away from Berlin.
Nearest Train Station: Strausberg Nord S-Bahn station, in Zone C of the Berlin public transport network. From here you will be picked up by your group leaders.
Nearest Airport: Both airports in Berlin, Tegel and Schönefeld, are at an equal distance away from the meeting point.
The group will prepare and cook meals together. You will be staying in shared rooms (in residential containers) with the possibility of camping in a tent in the garden (there are 3 tents available).

An interest in nature! Weatherproof work clothes with long sleeves and full-length trousers, since you’ll be working outdoors. Sports clothes and trainers. Mosquito spray, sun cream, swimsuit. The weather will probably be very warm.
Local partner and the project: The partner is De Amicitia and with this project we want to offer a different type of workcamp/experience open for volunteers with more age and experience.
Work: This project mainly offers a DETOX experience for volunteers minimum 25 y/o rather than an ordinary workcamp. Therefore, we are proposing to volunteers to spend one week of vegan (preferably non cooked) food having the chance of doing a one week fastening (totally or partially) that serves as a healthy way of detoxing especially when your fasting ritual allows you to consume fruits and light vegetables. While this may vary depending on people’s beliefs and practices – the essence is to eat light, fresh and unadulterated food. We are looking for volunteers with such wishes and determination. No meat or fish at all will be eaten and we’ll focus on consuming local food. The work of volunteers will be light and diverse, approximately 2 hours per day. The type of tasks may be: to clean and maintain ecologic garden, reparation of hives while a lot of excursions and leisure activities such as discovering of natural springs, taking daily sauna, clay baths, walking and climbing hills while maintaining touristic paths and making marks for these.
Location: The workcamp takes place in Gargantilla del Lozoya, small village of Sierra Norte about 80km away from Madrid. Gargantilla is part of several municipalities of the Valley of Lozoya, most of these are little villages but you can find all you need to live. It’s near Buitrago del Lozoya or Rascafría.
Terminal: Nearest airport Madrid-Adolfo Suarez-Barajas (www.aena.es).
Accommodation: The accommodation will be at our Wub Wub house which is a small summer house with solar and wind energy. The accommodation will be basic. The tents will be provided for the volunteers even though the aim is to sleep in the open air without tents. Thin mattresses also will be provided but would be useful to bring air mattresses if you want to sleep more comfortable. There are bathrooms and shower facilities, kitchen and also a sauna in the house.

Sleeping bag required. Capacity to live in tents and in the countryside. Volunteers shall be prepared to detoxify and eat light food. We will give priority to the volunteers with extra knowledge such as nutrition, veganism, meditation, yoga and artistic skills, as the project will have no campleader and will be self-managed so the motivation letter (and maybe a Skype interview) is necessary.
Special: project will have ONLY vegan food and is by itself a promotion of environmental sustainable lifestyle.
Project: The workcamp is organized in co-operation with the Czech national section of EUROSOLAR and Nature Conservation Agency. EUROSOLAR promotes renewable energies, sustainable lifestyle; it engages in youth environmental education and organizes environmental summer camps for children and families. The workcamp takes place in an abandoned but exceptionally beautiful, hilly area of Bohemian Forest, near the western border of the Czech Republic. The campsite is totally isolated from civilization (the nearest Czech village is 11 km away) and we welcome volunteers that are fond of trying out a basic lifestyle in the forest and do not mind longer walks. This year the workcamp will be organised for 20th time! The goal is to help maintain meadows in a nature protected area and maintain the campsite.
Work: You will work in a nature reserve about 3 km from the campsite (you will walk there on foot). The main work will consist of cutting grass on protected meadows and the campsite, raking and collecting grass. This work is physically demanding but on fresh air. As the meadows can be very wet, bring waterproof working shoes (or rubber boots), rain-gear and gloves. Study part: Evening discussions about environmental and intercultural topics, learning to recognize stars, watching wild animals. A visit to nature reservations in the neighbourhood can be planned. As you will be living in close contact with the nature you will improve your camping skills as well. Every evening, there is going to be a group meditation and sticktalking in a tee-pee.

The public transport to Stara Knizeci Hut during summer holidays is very limited – there are only few connections from Prague on 25th August. The last train leaves Prague train station at 12:45 and arrives in Stara Knizeci Hut at 16:15 so it is strongly recommended to arrive in Prague one day before the workcamp starts to make it on time. Detailed travel advice will be provided in the infosheet.
Accommodation/Food: In tee-pees (Indian tents with a fireplace in the centre) on wooden pads. You will cook together as a group on a fireplace. The food is only vegetarian. Started in 1985, Taraloka is a Women’s Buddhist Community and Retreat Centre of the Triratna Buddhist Community set on the Welsh-Shropshire border. It was a run-down farm that has been gradually renovated, rebuilt and adapted over the years with the help of many different women with many different skills. The importance of providing a context for women in which the practice of meditation and Buddhism could be developed and deepened was a strong motivating factor for everyone who set up this centre. The name Taraloka means realm of Tara. Tara is an archetypal female figure representing the Enlightened qualities of Compassionate Action.
Today, the aim of Taraloka is the same. Women go there and explore what meditation can bring into their life; learn something about the relevance of Buddhist teaching to contemporary life; and experience themselves in a different setting to usual.
WORK:
Taraloka hopes to give the volunteers the opportunity to experience living as a community and practising co-operation in living and working together. Women in Taraloka live and work as a specifically Buddhist community and are willing to share what it can look and feel like when living and working from ones deepest values.
They will offer the opportunity to learn new practical skills, develop life skills and build confidence through both. They will teach two fantastic meditation practices (which do not make anyone a Buddhist) but which can positively change your life. There will be the opportunity to learn more about Buddhism including ethics, ritual, study, question and answer and personal talks. Again, by attending any of this you are not making yourself Buddhist!
The work areas on the project will possibly involve maintenance, decorating and cleaning as well as learning to cook tasty and nutritious vegan meals for the group. In addition to these projects there may be some gardening and landscaping work. This is a work retreat and we are looking for physically fit and healthy women. We hope that the volunteers will have fun working together on these projects as well as meditating together, learning about Buddhism and living as a community.
We are offering this opportunity for our volunteers to experience a retreat environment as well as to give their time and energy. We suggest not using your mobile phones and other communication devices during this time. It can be really peaceful and liberating to disconnect from the digital world for a period. Friends and family will be able to contact you on our designated emergency number, should this be necessary during your stay.
