Description of work:
During this camp, participants can share their love for (and learn more about) global & local environmental issues, as well as photography. If you are interested in topics such as climate change, waste management, animal protection and sustainability, and you also love taking photographs or want to develop your photography skills, then this project is for you!
While developing artistic and technical photography skills, you will be focusing on environmental and sustainability issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits facilitated by SEEDS. One of our aims is to help create more environmentally aware consumers & travellers!
You will visit local projects on environment and conservation. These may include hands-on activities or guided visits. Some examples include outdoor cleanup tasks, a geothermal power plant, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an outdoor Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on conditions such as weather, as well as availability or restrictions of our partner organisations.
You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice, walking around and exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS' social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.
SEEDS’ programme combines learning, sharing, hands-on activities, getting to know Iceland, its culture, having fun, exploring the city and its attractions, as stunning natural attractions in possible excursions. Participants should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and should be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium distances during activities and sightseeing.
Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. This project has a smaller volunteer work part and puts a bigger emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact.
In this project SEEDS will organise a night photography and aurora hunting (Northern Lights) workshop in the city or in the vicinity of Reykjavík. This will take place during late evening and possibly into the night. Northern lights are a natural phenomenon depending on solar activity and meteorological conditions; we cannot guarantee you will see northern lights, but the night photography workshop will be organised anyway.
Description of accommodation and food:
SEEDS participants will stay in a house in Reykjavík. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, showers, and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Participants will sleep in shared rooms or dormitories. Please bring your own sleeping bag.
Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

Nestled in the hollow of a green valley, the town of Coly - St Amand is located in the heart of the Périgord Noir, a territory rich in history! Composed of two former municipalities that have decided to unite into one, we will work to unite these territories.
The Ecocycle association is a third place which develops a participatory animation project on the territory of the municipality of Saint Amand de Coly and its surroundings. These activities are strongly influenced by concerns related to climate change. In this context you will participate in the design and preparation of a shared garden for the winter.
You will discover a sense of welcome of the population and the charm of the landscapes and heritage, by organizing with other volunteers, and the leaders your program of activities.
Description of work:
You will have the opportunity to be introduced to the concept of permaculture and agroforestry. You will work on preparing the gardens for the upcoming winter period by weeding, working on protecting the soil, seeding and planting. In addition, there will be creative work done in organizing the layout and design of the gardens. You will also take time to participate in the activities offered by Ecocycle.
Description of location and leisure:
St Amand-de-Coly is located in Périgord Noir, 10 km from the caves of Lascaux, between Périgueux and Brive.
Leisure: Site visits, nature activities, you will build your own entertainment program with the leaders and the other participants. We favour a discovery of the territory and these actors over consumption activities.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
This project is organised by the city of Blumberg, the district administration Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis and IBG. This is the first time that Blumberg is hosting an international workcamp and the locals are excited to meet you! Your work will contribute to the “Naturschutzgroßprojekt Baar”, a very big project for nature protection in the Baar region.
The region called “Baar” is a high area (650 to 800m above sea level), which spreads from the Back Forest to the west, over to the Swabian Alb to the east. Since 2013, parts of this region are under protection and benefit from national funds to maintain, protect and improve its many different natural habitats and its incredibly rich biodiversity. Every day, you will work in the area of the Baar close to Blumberg, supporting this very special project. By participating in this workcamp, you are supporting action against climate change and the protection of biodiversity (UN SDG 13 and 15).
Description of work:
Come to the beautiful Baar region to contribute to a major nature and biodiversity protection project. Your tasks will mainly be to clear up and shape forest edges as well as clear up rough pastures. In concrete terms, you will mainly:
• Use hand saws and loppers to cut hedges and schrubs;
• Pile up the fallen branches to be removed from the area.
The opening up of the forest edges is very important for its ecosystem! The work will be led by a professional instructor who supervises the nature protection project in the Baar region. He will be very happy to share his knowledge with you and answer your questions about this very specific area.
No previous experience is needed. You will work 30 hours per week, somewhere between 8am to 4pm from Monday to Friday with a lunchbreak. Please bring warm clothing that is suitable for outdoor work (that can get dirty), as well as sturdy shoes!
Description of location and leisure:
Blumberg is a town of approximately 10.000 inhabitants, located in the very south of Germany, only 5km away from the border with Switzerland and close to the source of the Danube River. Nowadays, the region is best known for tourism. Indeed, during your stay you will find a lot of attractive activities to do! Due to the beautiful landscapes, there are many hiking routes that can be started from Blumberg. You can also visit the Railway Museum (Eisenbahnmuseum) and go on a ride with the Sauschwänzlebahn, a historical train ride of 25km. At the weekend, you can also visit the cities of Donaueschingen where the Danube takes its source, travel to a beautiful waterfall in Triberg or to the famous Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen in Switzerland. Last but not least, locals and especially youngsters are looking forward to get to know you and maybe organise some activities with you.
The nearest terminal (train-, bus-, taxi station): Closest Airport: Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB)

Please be aware that there is no washing machine and no Wi-Fi in the house. There is a bakery very close by (200m) and the next supermarkets are 700m away.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
Some examples include outdoor cleanup tasks, a community dinner or a visit to a trash collection centre, a geothermal power plant, a museum or exhibition. Some of these activities are dependent on conditions such as weather, pandemic-related restrictions, as well as availability of our partner organisations.
You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice, walking around and exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS' social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.
Description of work:
Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. This project has a smaller volunteer work part and puts a bigger emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact.
In this project SEEDS will organise a night photography and aurora hunting (Northern Lights) workshop in the city or in the vicinity of Reykjavík. This will take place during late evening and possibly into the night. Northern lights are a natural phenomenon depending on solar activity and meteorological conditions; we cannot guarantee you will see northern lights, but the night photography workshop will be organised anyway.
Description of location and leisure:
