Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:

The Ruta Arqueologica Minera is a global project promoted by the local municipality that intends to connect small communities and industrial heritage sites through a touristic route and cultural activities. Although Pachuca is proud of its mining past, the sites have not been used for a long time and the people that once worked there live in communities now disconnected from the city and lacking basic services. The complex system of mines and related factories mark different stages of industrial activity, starting with the late XVIth century and the presence of Spanish conquerors, British technology from the XIXth century, all the way to the XXth century, which brought electricity and the latest interventions during the American era. Volunteers will contribute to the restoration of green areas in order to create public spaces for the communities that surround the sites, as well as creating cultural activities to involve citizenship and attract tourism.

Description of work:

Volunteers will be involved in creating a community center in Mina Camelia, clearing modern rooms from debris, painting and installing furniture and services in order to give the space back to the community.

Pachuca is a city in the central plateau in Mexico, surrounded by mountains and natural parks.

Volunteers will be hosted in the community center CRIC, with kitchen and complete facilities where cots will be installed. The food will be prepared by the volunteers.

[현지 도착 안내]

멕시코 현지 단체에서는 워크캠프 참가자들의 보다 원활한 활동을 위해 스페인어 교실(유료)을 운영하고 있습니다. 워크캠프 참가 직전 약 5~7일간 진행되는 스페인어 수업에 참가를 희망하시는 분은 국제워크캠프기구 담당자 이메일로 신청하여 주시기 바랍니다.
