On the outskirts of an imposing abbey or in the revenue room of the castle, you will walk in the footsteps of archaeologists from the beginning of the 20th century, clearing the wall of the cloister while being attentive to all the little witnesses of the past that may have escaped them at the time.
Hidden in the hollow of a green valley, the commune of Coly - St Amand is located in the heart of the Périgord Noir, a territory rich in history! We'll be working to bring together the abbey of St Amand and the ruins of the abbey castle of Coly together.
After several clearing workcamps on the castle, this year we're moving into the layers of archaeological interest, and we'll also be working around St Amand Abbey. Festivals, night markets and village festivities will punctuate the summer.
You will discover the hospitality of the population and the charm of the landscapes and local heritage, by organizing with the other volunteers and other groups and leaders your program of ctivities.


Description of work:

You will be taking part in the enhancement of local heritage around the castle and abbey. Working with an archaeologist, you will be clearing the ground, clearing undergrowth and consolidating, then carrying out careful excavation work on these two areas that bear witness to previous centuries. The summer will be punctuated by local events where you will be invited to take part in festivities such as the "Saint-Amand fait son intéressant" performing arts festival, night markets, village festivals, etc. You will be in close contact with local inhabitants to help organise these events.

Coly - St Amand (24120), 10 kms from the Lascaux caves, between Périgueux and Brive.

Leisure: During your stay, you will have the opportunity to participate in local festivities and cultural events, to discover the region and to organise your programme of activities with the other volunteers and the animators.

You will prepare the menus and meals together, taking into account the season, everyone's needs and the pleasure of sharing together.

Participating in the ecological insulation of a stone house in the heart of an idyllic mountain landscape. Does it interest you? Join us and come discover the former Ferme du Faï and its natural setting at an altitude of about 1000 meters! The association Les Villages des Jeunes has managed, organized, and renovated Faï’s welcome center since 1990, in partnership with the SIVU of Haute-Maraize. The Ferme du Faï is a former agricultural area where the buildings were converted into studios and group accommodations.
In the summer, the Faï is a place of residence for professional artists that come to take advantage of the amazing location to create collectively and contribute to festivals like La Montagne qui Chante...The workcamps that we organize at Faï contribute to making this a place of innovation and freedom where working and living together is possible for young people and adults, people from all countries and all cultures, employees, volunteers, artists, tourists etc., whether that be for a few days or several months.

Description of work:

The insulation work is taking place on a building called "The Farm". This building hosts the long-term volunteers but also the offices and housing of the permanent employees. For the comfort of the people and for ecological reasons, we want to improve the insulation of this stone house. With the help of the technical supervisor, you will work with eco-construction techniques and materials (such as hemp and lime, wood). You’ll help build a wooden frame on the outside of the house. This framework will be used to contain the insulation, made of a mortar of lime and hemp straw. At certain times, we will work at height, with a scaffolding. The time spent on the site is approximately 30 hours per week.

The farm of Faï, 3km from the village of Saix (05400), is 15km away from the main city of Veynes.

Leisure activities: We will be in an exceptional location to discover the joys of hiking among the mountains, its rivers, its lakes, the farmers markets, and festive events organized in the surrounding villages (depending on programming). As a group, we will decide the activities and outings that we want to set up (subject to distance). Once a week, the welcome center generally organizes a musical evening with homemade woodfired pizzas. Grocery shopping days once or twice a week will be organized with our vehicles.

You will be accommodated on the Faï farm site on the campgrounds in individual tents and will provide you a mattress as well.
The campgrounds have access to showers, restrooms, and the kitchen. There’s no WIFI, but you’ll be able to meet people from all over the world! You will cook in turn, so that you will be able to taste a number of different specialties!
Here, we pay attention to what we eat and aim to reduce our environmental impact, we try to eat a maximum of local products and limit eating meat to twice a week. The daily life is organized together: organization of the menus (vegetarian, vegan and other specific diets possible), shopping, activities, etc. Bring a mattress, a good sleeping bag (the nights can be cold) and a pillow. You will share various collective tasks (such as cleaning) and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the group leaders, and you will help with the shopping and meal preparation, giving priority to healthy, local products. You can share your favourite recipes if you wish. Laundry done by hand, no WIFI connection.

Built in the 13th century, this medieval fortress was a strategic point to defend the borders during various conflicts. It evolved with time and quickly became a prison welcoming prisoners such as Jeanne d’Arc, or, later, Prince Louis Napoleon Bonaparte (future Napoleon III). Since 1972, the Association des Amis du Château de Ham has been fighting to preserve and enhance the historical site. They host integration work sites, organize flea markets and exhibitions, and even transform the site into a theater. For several years, Concordia has been helping the association with the restoration of the monument through volunteer workcamps involving local and international youth.

Have fortified castles always made you dream? Get involved and come and live a unique volunteering experience in the Château de Ham!

For several years, Concordia has been helping the Association des Amis du Château de Ham (association of the Friends of Ham Castle) to restore the monument during international volunteer workcamps. This workcamp in the commune continues its dynamic by bringing together local teenagers and international youths, allowing exchanges and meetings to run.
This year, we will be working on landscaping and masonry, a variety of work appropriate to the history of the site. We will continue the development of the "prisoners' garden" and the consolidation of the ruins of the former German kitchen, with pointing and many other techniques that you will learn.

The program will consist of learning masonry techniques and garden design, but above all international and intercultural exchanges, all of this in a good mood!

Description of location and leisure:

Ham is a town of about 7,000 inhabitants located in the Hauts-de-France, in the east of the Somme, in the heart of the former Picardie region. The town is 1h30 from Paris, 1h from Amiens and 25 min from Saint-Quentin.

Because of its position during the First World War, the region hosts today many places of memory and commemoration. Other tourist attractions close to the town also reflect the history of the region, such as Péronne (25 min) with its old castle and museum, or Noyon (20 min) with its medieval historic center. A visit to the city of Compiègne (imperial city) and Amiens (capital of Picardie) are also on the visit program!

Ridracoli hosts one of the largest dam in Europe and is located within the Foreste Casentinesi National Park, in Italy. The dam is an artificial barrier that forms a large lake that has been supplying water to more than a million people in Emilia Romagna since the ‘80s. Lake Ridracoli is located 557 meters above sea level and has great environmental value; it represents a small corner of paradise and has a strong tourist impact. An interactive museum is located in the natural reserve; it’s called “IDRO – Ridracoli’s water Ecomuseum” and helps to understand the importance of water in the life of all living beings.
The program of the activities is created with the aim of developing and stimulating the knowledge and critical thinking of the participants on various topics such as: the importance of water, drought, education to sustainability, climate change and global warming. The project location offers a perfect experience for a full contact with nature.

Description of work:

All the activities will be based on non-formal educational working methods: workshops, excursions, group activities, discussions, presentations, interviews, brainstorming, world-café, expression games, etc.

The activity programme also includes: - Visit to IDRO, the interactive ecomuseum with experiments and multimedia interactions on the importance of water in our daily life and for the development and the future of our planet; - Visit to the dam of Ridracoli and the viewpoints of the wildlife of the lake; - Hiking in the woods with a break in lodges surrounded by nature on the shores of the lake.

Everybody will collaborate in keeping the house clean. The isolated location, far from busy roads, allows the sighting of deers, roe deers and woodland animals.

Get involved in preserving the rural environmental heritage of France! Nestled in the heart of the Gers, you'll discover the village of Preignan—a small, vibrant community, offering a haven of tranquility and natural beauty away from the hustle of big cities.

You'll have the opportunity to participate in an eco-volunteering mission, working in exceptional environments cherished by the locals of Preignan and the hamlet of Rambert. This volunteer project is dedicated to safeguarding the environment, protecting endangered species, and preserving their natural habitats. Volunteers play a crucial role in taking committed actions for the planet and the conservation of biodiversity.

Your responsibilities will include beach cleaning, aimed at collecting plastic and wood debris while ensuring the preservation of flora and fauna. Additionally, you'll have the chance to contribute by painting a wooden chalet and learning how to construct insect houses.

Preignan is situated in the South of France, within the department of Gers, at the heart of Occitanie. Positioned centrally in a rural area near Auch, this small village boasts a rich historical background.
Dating back to the Gallo-Roman era, Preignan showcases remnants of its past, including a Gallo-Roman villa perched atop the ridges. At the heart of the village stands a Romanesque church, likely erected on an ancient Merovingian burial ground.

The Rambert mill, also known as the Hydroberge, stands as a historic and emblematic monument in Preignan. Much of your volunteering will revolve around this location. The Hydroberge serves as a welcoming space, housing a community café and hosting various cultural events throughout the year, such as concerts, conferences, and practical workshops.
The area is celebrated for its rich heritage and gastronomy. During the summer months, the place comes alive with numerous festivals, concerts and events.

The area offers a prime opportunity to delve into France's historic past, maintaining a robust regional identity. Explorations can lead you along the paths of Compostela and to various archaeological sites, such as the Gallo-Roman villa of Seviac, which has hosted international construction projects.

Inside a lovely little French village, the castle of Montaigu le Blin is an impressive medieval fortress, classified as Historical Monument. It is located on the top of a hill, overlooking the countryside. Since 2002, volunteers have been participating, every summer, to the restoration of the castle. These last years, the fortress has regained its beauty! Since the 80s, volunteers come every year to restore and protect the castle. These last couple of years, volunteers restored the castle walls using traditional masonry techniques and developped the medieval vegetable garden at the bottom of the Lord's tower. This year, it's your turn to live an experience back in time!


Description of work:

Participate to the protection and enhancement of this breathtaking heritage! Within the castle, you will realize various works of restoration of walls (ramparts, towers) using traditional techniques and help maintain the vegetation (clearing bushes, etc.) as well as many other varied tasks. There are no special skills required for the work, it's just an opportunity to learn.
Beyond this work, you will reflect together on sustainable development using traditional techniques in the restoration of the fortress, but also in the daily life of the group. Campleaders will guide you along the project. You will also take part in the touristic activities of the site by welcoming the visitors (tourists and local inhabitants) in the castle and explain the work, show the progress you have been doing the last few weeks! Protecting this piece of heritage takes time, and a lot of energy. Come contribute to its rebuilding !

Montaigu-le-Blin is located in the French Bourbonnais area, 30km North from Vichy and 90km North from Clermont-Ferrand, in the French Auvergne region. It is a countryside rich with historical heritage, which you will be able to discover by visiting a few of the numerous castles and medieval cities, by hiking, going by bike or canoeing, according to what the leading team and the weather can propose. The inhabitants of the village are used to welcome volunteers from all over the world come every summer. You will pick up bread from the innkeeper Didier, ask for eggs on a Sunday evening to Monique, the weather the next day to Jean-Pascal, show your progress to Jean Louis who is passionate about the castle, you will feast with the fruits and vegetables offered by the local gardeners...and so much more!
The campleaders will prepare games and activities for the group but will also encourage you to propose and build your own activities according to your desires. Bring ideas and be creative !

A rotation will be organised by the campleaders to ensure the smooth running of daily life. The objective is to gain autonomy and that everyone acts individually to allow a good collective functioning!
All together, you will think about how to work, feed everyone, have fun, get around, visit the region in the most environnementaly and human-friendly way.

Pay attention that there is no wifi access on the workcamp site, the telephone network is also quite low. However, the volunteers will be able to find public wifi in the village. Who needs internet during a Workcamp anyway ? The site is unfortunately not accessible to people in wheelchairs. Globally on our teenage camps, we chose to book half of the spots for French volunteers. Located near the natural river Allier, last wild river in Europe, Pont du Château is a town that wishes to bring nature into the city through sustainable management of natural areas. Former terraced gardens have been gradually redeveloped and managed as ecological gardens by international volunteers. New works are planned, with the aim of enhancing the vineyard managed collectively with the creation of a barrel, the development of the southern terrace offering a beautiful view over the whole valley and the creation of a green theatre.

This fifteenth workcamp in Pont-du-Château is part of this major landscaping project. It will let you discover its medieval town. Local celebrations, meals with the inhabitants and the discovery of the region will be on your schedule, as well as the party organised at the end of the workcamp!

Description of work:

This will be the 15th year that the city of Pont-du-Château hosts international volunteers! You can also take part in this great project to restore the terraced gardens, which are gradually being transformed into an ecological place for walking, relaxing and discovering the landscape.
The 3-hectare site includes an eco-pasture, terraced gardens, a small orchard, a community vineyard and a play and relaxation area. This year, the city of Pont-du-Château has asked us to work on the small vineyard site, with the task of renovating the low stone wall and stairs that run alongside the vines, using ecological lime plaster.

Would you like to learn about traditional masonry while discovering a pretty village in the Auvergne region, in a relaxing natural setting? Then this project is for you! A technical supervisor will be on hand throughout the project to teach you how to use hand tools in complete safety.

Pont-du-Chateau is a lively little town which overlooks the river Allier. The town is proud of its natural surroundings and the area is great for walking. The castle is in the heart of the town and offers a remarkable view over the agglomeration of Clermont-Ferrand city and the Auvergne volcanoes. This charming market town, full of tiny alleyways, timber-framed houses and remarkable buildings is awaiting its visitors with wonderful surprises. You will be welcomed by local organisations who will offer you activities to do during your leisure time: for example, kayaking, hiking, swimming, learning how to play the popular ball game called “petanque”, team sport, etc. Clermont-Ferrand, the capital of the region, is only 15km away and can be reached by train or by bus. You will be able to enjoy the town's summery energy.

Description of accommodation and food:

You will be accompanied by two camp leaders throughout your stay.
You will be accommodated on a municipal site located near the workcamp. You will sleep in individual tents set up in the grass. Changing rooms and sanitary facilities are in the municipal centre, collective life and kitchen under a large tent reserved for your group. Wifi is available on the site. You can hand wash your laundry or go to a launderette in town (for a fee).

The group will be sharing the different tasks of collective life together. The budget will be allocated to the group and you will participate in the preparation of dishes using healthy products from the market and local producers.

Concordia has been organising international work camps with the town of Clermont-Ferrand since 1993, which just goes to show how well the partnership works! The city builds participatory
with local residents. Every year, we are present in lively neighbourhoods where there is a social centre, shared gardens and associations that organise activities.

This work camp offers you the chance to take part in the life of the Anatole France social centre, which is set to become Clermont-Ferrand's new youth centre! This municipal centre is a place for cultural events and popular education: it already hosts numerous cultural activities for children and young people, organised by the outreach team and the town's associations. It even has an exhibition room!

The Anatole France centre's activities team will be on hand to welcome you, and will provide a room for your belongings and meals. Local young people will also be on hand to help you discover their region.

Description of work:

Get involved with the young people and help them develop the garden of this youth centre and encourage sharing and conviviality: create an island of greenery and biodiversity and a performance space for theatre and dance, build wooden structures to landscape the garden - the young people's ideas are numerous!

For this first workcamp at the Anatole France social centre, the animation team is offering young international volunteers an introduction to carpentry and woodworking techniques, starting with the landscaping of the outdoor garden by building wooden bleachers for rehearsals and performances, and small wooden structures to promote biodiversity, such as bird nesting boxes and insect hotels!

Working alongside a technical supervisor, you'll learn how to use hand and power tools. Calling all handiwork enthusiasts!

Set against an exceptional backdrop of volcanoes, Clermont-Ferrand is the capital of the Auvergne region. The city lies at the foot of the Puy de Dôme, accessible by panoramic train, and the Chaîne des Puys, a UNESCO World Heritage site. During your stay, you'll be able to take advantage of both the city's lively summer scene (concerts, shows, fireworks, etc.) and the natural beauty on its doorstep: hiking in the volcanoes, swimming in the lakes, outdoor activities, etc.

You will be accommodated at the campsite “Pierre et Sources” in Volvic, in the midst of Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park, close to the Chaîne des Puys. You will be staying in one-person tents, there will also be big collective tents (protected outside areas) for socialising purposes.

The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of meals, prioritising products from the market and local producers. There is Free WIFI at the campsite. Laundry can be washed by hand or by machine at the campsite (fee payable).

Lattes is a dynamic, modern town in the Montpellier metropolitan area. The town attracts many tourists in the summer thanks to its proximity to the beaches of Palavas and Carnon and the city of Montpellier, which is accessible by tram. This is our second project with this local authority, which is keen to continue its dynamic partnership with a project bringing together local and international young people.

You'll be able to take advantage of the outdoor activities on offer in the commune, as well as the festivities organised during this period. It's definitely a great project !

Description of work:

Would you like to get involved in protecting nature while enjoying creating and inventing games? We invite you to take part in this adventure between land and sea, nature and the city!
First of all, you'll be working with the Maison de la Nature to create nesting islands on the banks of the pond. You'll also be involved in combating invasive species (pulling up plants) and helping to maintain paths and groves.

Next, we'll be working on improving a camping area with its teepees, designed to accommodate young children (work on the gate and fencing). You'll be able to create outdoor games, design an artistic treasure hunt... All good ideas are welcome!
Last but not least, you can also have fun meeting local young people at the Quartier Jeunes bar and create an artistic project together!

The town of Lattes is located near Montpellier airport and the Sud de France train station, between the town and the beach. It has a number of assets, including its proximity to the city, which is accessible by tram, and its natural areas, ponds, walking trails and cultural attractions. Modern and dynamic, it is home to many companies that have chosen it for its centrality and undeniable assets.

You'll be able to take part in a wide range of leisure activities and discover the local area, and meet local young people on a daily basis!
