Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
Concordia has been organizing international work camps with the city of Clermont-Ferrand since 1993! The city develops participatory projects with residents. Every year, we are present in lively neighborhoods, where residents create shared gardens and local associations organize activities.
This work camp invites you to participate in the life of “ L’Arbre aux Enfants” site by helping to build an outdoor space made entirely of wood.
Local young people will be able to participate in the work camp alongside you and help you discover their area.
Description of work:
Come and help create a relaxation area with local associations and young people!
The "Arbre aux Enfants" site is a place for learning about the environment and sustainable development, welcoming children, schools, and associations.
To enhance their outdoor spaces and give their summer an intercultural boost, the activities team is offering young international volunteers the chance to learn carpentry and woodworking techniques to build a wooden terrace and furniture! Other tasks may also be available, such as planting and maintaining green spaces to enhance the site.
You will work with other young people from Clermont-Ferrand and will be able to enjoy the outdoor spaces: picnic tables, barbecue, and bread oven for potential intercultural evenings!
Attention budding DIY enthusiasts: you will learn how to use hand and power tools alongside a technical facilitator.

It hosts artistic programming, non formal education initiatives, and residencies for companies in creation.
Description of work:
For the sixth consecutive year, we are organising an international volunteer project in Clichy-sous-Bois. Focused until now on developing community gardens, this year the project will take place at the Chapiteau 93 site. Volunteers will work on the premises of our partners, La Fontaine aux Images and 360°SUD, contributing to the construction of a greenhouse.
The main work will take place at Chapiteau 93, where you will actively contribute to the renovation of a wooden greenhouse as well as to the reforestation of the site. Supported by a supervisor, you will discover the basics of carpentry and take part in building and installing the wooden honeycomb modules that will form the structure of the greenhouse. Together with the group, you will help set up and secure the tarpaulin around the frame to bring the greenhouse to life. You will also spend several mornings in the community gardens of Parc de la Fosse Maussoin, a classified natural area. This space hosts collective vegetable gardens and educational areas dedicated to biodiversity and permaculture: you will take part in gardening tasks and creative hands-on workshops while discovering these sustainable practices. Activities will evolve according to the needs of the site and the wishes of the group.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
Inside a lovely little French village, the castle of Montaigu le Blin is an impressive medieval fortress, classified as Historical Monument. It is located on the top of a hill, overlooking the countryside. Since 2002, volunteers have been participating, every summer, to the restoration of the castle. These last years, the fortress has regained its beauty! Since the 80s, volunteers come every year to restore and protect the castle. These last couple of years, volunteers restored the castle walls using traditional masonry techniques and developped the medieval vegetable garden at the bottom of the Lord's tower. This year, it's your turn to live an experience back in time!
Description of work:
With its rich history, international volunteers have been welcomed at the castle since the 1980s to help maintain and promote it, and enliven local life during the summer. This year, 6 international workcamps are organized at the fortress over the summer. You will participate in the second session of the year.
Come and join the preservation and enhancement efforts of this exceptional heritage! Around the castle, you will carry out several restoration tasks. Guided by a technical supervisor, you will help maintain the masonry by learning traditional techniques: removing and re-pointing the walls, making lime and sand mortar, and handling the tools. You will also assist with maintaining the woodwork: safety barriers and building with pallets for relaxation areas. Finally, you will take part in maintining the fortress's environment: clearing brush, pruning shrubs, maintaining the vegetable garden, and renovating the dry toilet cabins. You will also be able to take part in hands-on and cultural activities aimed at enhancing and showcasing the fortress.

Accommodation is in tents, 10-15 minutes on foot from the fortress and 5 minutes on foot from the centre of the village. Everything is organised on-site with respect for the environment (waste sorting and composting) with the goal of promoting a more ecofriendly lifestyle.

This year, another group of French and/or international volunteers may be hosted at the same time and take part in the work activities. Living spaces may therefore be shared, and attentive, considerate communication will be essential. This cohabitation will also be a great opportunity to multiply encounters and further strengthen the intercultural dimension of the project.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
FEE FOR ITALIAN VOLUNTEERS IS 920€.
EXTRAFEE FOR FOREIGN VOLUNTEERS IS 800€.
The proposal stems from the meeting between IBO Italia and the Social Promotion Association "I Tetragonauti," founded in 2003 and today made up of professionals and volunteers with expertise in educational pedagogy and maritime experience. The main objective of I Tetragonauti is to implement social and educational interventions and projects aimed at minors, minors in distress, those with difficulties, and people with disabilities, identifying the marine environment and sailing boats as the privileged contexts and tools for their work.
The project thus involves a volunteer experience aboard a sailboat.
Why this experience?
A sea journey has strong educational and formative characteristics: sailing allows you to discover different horizons and possibilities, passions and interests. It helps you learn new things and stimulates the discovery of new aspects of yourself. Living in direct contact with the sea offers a privileged opportunity to get to know it, learn to respect it, and discover its rules and beauty. Being surrounded by the sea, day and night, will make you feel a deep connection with nature. The weather elements and the various forms of marine life will be our travel companions.
Being part of a crew, sharing with others the emotions of sailing, the responsibilities, the enjoyable situations, and the difficult ones, allows you to enter a new dimension based on collaboration, camaraderie, and mutual trust.
Community life on the boat is the privileged space for collaborative action, the ideal environment to experiment with relationships involving rules, roles, duties, tasks, and responsibilities.
The journey is undoubtedly the most intense educational moment.
It’s the time to detach from comforts and securities in order to enter a different reality, sometimes challenging, which inevitably forces you to let go of your own restraints, your own resistance, and to engage with others and with differences.
The activities will alternate between moments on board and on land. During the week, there will be cleaning and maintenance work on the beaches, which will be reached by boat. Special attention will be given to the issue of plastic usage and plastic in the sea, participating in the “Back to Life” project in collaboration with the Genoa Aquarium and Livorno of Plastic in the Sea.
Additionally, life on board will be managed communally through rotating kitchen and cleaning shifts. Through the food pyramid and the exchange of typical recipes from participants' countries of origin, there will be discussions on education and intercultural food practices. Thanks to the partnership with the Food Bank of Tuscany, we will also address the theme of food sustainability, policies, and virtuous behaviors to avoid food waste.
Each day will start with a warm-up session: some simple physical exercises to get moving. During the navigation, everyone will be involved as crew members in maneuvers (steering, sails, anchor) and some basic knowledge (boat nomenclature, winds and courses, main knots).
Work sessions will be balanced with free time for swimming, SUP, snorkeling, and walks.
Description of work:
Boarding in Naples (NA), during the week we will sail to the islands of Ischia, Capri and Procida with stops at: Nisida, Baia di San Montano and Maronti, Marina Piccola and Grotta Azzurra and Corricella, before returning to Naples. At each location, there will be time ashore for trekking, environmental and cultural activities.
There will be no overnight stays in port.
The exact itinerary will be determined based on weather and sea conditions.
The main activities during the camp are divided into:
1. Environmental education and land cleaning activities
• Spotting and collecting floating plastic in the sea
• Cleaning the beaches and the seabed (up to 4/5 meters in depth)
• Whale
Natural Park of Arcipelago Campano

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
The organization in charge of the work camp is "Balmes Blancs", a non-profit association created in 2010 with the aim of offering unique activities in nature with the aim of presenting new places and new people and deepening, thus, the knowledge of the Catalan territory.
Since its inception, it has organized various activities such as snowshoe outings with animal footprints, astronomical discoveries, kayak outings to discover marine fauna, rafting drops, hiking in the mountains, or leveling and safety workshops, among others.
In 2013 the association began working in the Siarb Valley. From that moment on, Balmes Blancs began to focus its activities around this valley and, among other things, guided visits to the "Despoblat de Santa Creu" de Llagunes, visits to the trenches on the Pallars front and to the Vilamur bunkers, discoveries of geology, and activities of flora and fauna in the environment.
At the same time, the refuge promotes hiking with the creation of signposted routes around Llagunes, as well as a series of actions aimed at recovering the heritage of the Siarb Valley and discovering rural life in Pallars Sobirà and in the rest of the Pyrenees.
Description of work:
The purpose of this workcamp is to participate in the recovery of old paths and learn the history of the Pyrenees, learn about culture and nature, and participate in both with different activities of preservation and conservation.
The technical work that will be carried out in the field of work consists, in general, in different tasks related to the recovery of the old roads of the valley.
The following are the main ones:
- Road clearing: mowing grass, bushes, etc., which grow in the spring to leave the roads comfortably passable on foot.
- Remove stones from the road: pick up stones that have fallen on the road and set them aside in an orderly manner at the edges to make the passage passable.
- Rebuild the simplest sections of dry stone wall: rebuild those walls that have fallen and are easily rebuildable.
- Improved signage with paint: review the tracking marks of the paths with paint according to the instructions given to us by the "Alt Pirineu" Natural Park.
- Improved paved sections: some trails have cobbled sections that have worn out; redo these sections in order to maintain the cobbled areas.
The terrain is called “La Solana”, near Vilamur
Description of location and leisure:
The workcamp is done in a calm and peaceful area of the Catalan Pyrenees called “Vall de Siarb”.
This place is located inside one of the natural Park in Catalonia (Parc Natural de l’Alt Pirineu) and the village belongs to Soriguera municipality.
For more information about this part of the Pyrenees, you can visit the website http://parcsnaturals.gencat.cat/en/alt-pirineu/index.html
Some leisure activities:
- Talk by the members of the Parc de l'Alt Pirineu about the trails and paths and the biodiversity of the Park.
- Visit to the bunkers: visit to the Civil War bunkers in the Coll de Sant Joan, about 4 km from the camp. The context of the Civil War and the specific situation of Pallars Sobirà and the Vall de Siarb will be explained.
- Visit to the Despoblat de Santa Creu de Llagunes: guided visit to the medieval Despoblat where we can see the strategic location of the town, its function during the medieval period and why the wall, the watchtowers.
- Thematic tour of the mills: circular itinerary of the mills, where you can see the remains of two flour mills and a hydroelectric power plant that supplied electricity to several villages in the Vall de Siarb.
- Itinerary of Tornafort: circular excursion that will allow us to get to know the paths of the surroundings visiting the picturesque town of Tornafort.
- Vilamur itinerary: circular excursion that will take us from the land to the village of Vilamur, then towards Soriguera, and following the river we will return to the camp.
- Orientation activity: the group will be divided into different teams and based on a series of clues related to the environment they will have to decipher an enigma or map. This dynamic enhances group cohesion and organization, agility and skills.

Description of accommodation and food:
The accommodation is in a terrain called "La Solana”, near the village of Vilamur.
It's a camping area in the middle of nature, so you should definitely be eager to have a (somehow) wild experience!
Volunteers will spend their days at a campsite, and they will camp and sleep in tents; usually there are 3-4 participants per tent and no separation by gender.
Tents are basic; mainly, there’s only space for sleeping or lying down. Tents will be provided by the organization, and volunteers will sleep on a mattress on the floor. Participants must bring their own sleeping bag (it’s highly recommended to bring a good one, as in the Pyrenees it can be cold at night even in summer) and mattress.
There is 1 dry toilet near the campsite and 1 shower available in the camp with COLD WATER (we strongly recommend bringing eco- and biodegradable shower gel or shampoo). There is no hot water in the camp. No gender separation for showers in the river; previous agreements will be done with the group.
The volunteers are in charge of cooking and keeping the area clean and safe: they will be split into groups, each group will prepare the food for one day, and they will be rotating every day, so they will be camping in the field and cooking by themselves.
In general, lunch and dinner will be warm meals, but exceptions can be made in case of a trekking route or spending the whole day out of the campsite.
There’s no Wi-Fi at the campsite. However, there's a mobile phone signal in the area, so you should be able to connect to 4G almost everywhere.
IMPORTANT: There is no electricity to charge phones in the terrain, but there is the possibility to charge the phones in the village of Vilamur.

For the work sessions, make sure to bring sturdy, protective clothing that can withstand dirt and wear. Mountain weather can be unpredictable, with sudden changes despite the sunshine, so it is essential to pack appropriate clothing, including a warm fleece or sweater, hiking shorts and pants, a windbreaker, a down jacket, and warm socks. Sturdy, ankle-high hiking boots are mandatory for safety. Sun protection is also crucial due to the intense glare at high altitudes—bring a hat or cap, sunglasses with high UV protection, and sunscreen with SPF 30-50.
For your accommodation, a warm sleeping bag (comfort temperature between 5-10°C) is necessary, along with a pillowcase that you can stuff with clothes to create a pillow. A small backpack, in addition to your main luggage, will be useful for daily activities, and don’t forget comfortable sneakers and a pair of flip-flops for relaxing moments. Other essential items include a phone charger, a water bottle, a basic first-aid kit, and a headlamp or flashlight. Hiking poles are not required but can be helpful.
If you would like to share a piece of your culture—such as traditional recipes, stories, music, or small souvenirs—feel free to bring something special from your home country or region. A small Bluetooth speaker can also be useful for group activities and cultural exchanges.
